I must have clicked too late. There was only one left with lifetime maps... Sounds like you did get a great deal. None of those stores are near me, so online was my only hope. Thanku for posting you made a lot of people very happy.

Not a good product, not worth the purchase. Picked up 2 on BF11 for like $60 each, and I wish I never did. Coming from a Sony and a TomTom I found the OS to be very restrictive and not so easy to use. The re-routing is HORRIBLE!!!! Example... on a 1 hour trip, we decide to take a more direct, but not a highway, route about 10 minutes in to the trip. For the next 40 minutes the 40lm tried to get us back on the highway even when it meant adding an additional hour to the trip! So we were literally 10 minutes from home and it actually wanted us to drive another hour out of our way just to use the highway. It does this on a regular basis, but that was the worst one I experienced. And yes, I did try adjusting the routing preferences with little to no improvement, and yes I am using the latest fw and maps. These problems are not evident in the higher level models like the 24xx, 25xx, 3xxx, and not even in the last gen 14xx, 23xx models.

Just realized that ALL automotive GPS are on clearance. Tomtoms, Garmin or whatever for older models. They clearance priced all older automtive gps units. I think some marine ones too. Far more selection in stores though than online.

You can get refurbs for about this price, or a little more for better models (worth it IMO). I would look for a refurb 24xx or 25xx. I would recommend the 2460LMT (refurb was recently $100), or 2595LMT (newer model). Both have voice recognition.
Or, the 2555LMT (no VR) refurb was $80 after rebate.

A refurb 2595 LMT, which I bought, goes for $159. Still more than these units new since I paid $124.

On top of that, you don't get full warranty with a refurb and may end up with a battery that won't last as long. Which was the case for my last refurb GPS 1490 LMT. The battery on it last 6 months before dying. If I had bought it new instead of refurb I could have had the battery replaced free under warranty.

2460LMT has been at least as low as $100.
Garmin refurbs bought through an authorized dealer have the same 1 year mfg's warranty as the new ones.

The walmart one is not in stock and good luck finding it in store. I checked 12 stores between san antonio and austin and nothing. A price online with no way to buy it is nothing. As for 1 year warranty, the most I've seen is 90 days.

Just bought a 2555LT.

Don't need anything fancy, and it was cheaper then any where else.

They come back in stock on a regular basis. Picked up one for a friend around a few weeks ago at the $119 price. The 1 year warranty comes with the GARMIN REFURB units. If you see 90 days that generally means that the refubing was done by a third party... sometimes even the seller.
