How on earth people are giving thumbs down with "not a good price" and "spam/self promotion" is beyond me. Maybe they all accidentally clicked on the wrong reasons? Thanks so much for this. Picked up two at my local staples for personal use. It was on display with the $69 price.

I heard repeated complaints that it was hard to read the regular nook in low light and I wasn't going to pay retail price. Problem solved. Repped.

Here is how it breaks down for me:

Nook Glowlight
- much cheaper (this deal)
- fits better in the hand due the scalloped back
- has a hardware home screen button (which can be handy)
- is easily rooted and can run any android app, such as the kindle app...
- expandable storage if you want to carry crazy amounts of books with you (or if you root it, for more app space)
- page turning buttons (in addition to the touch screen) are great for variety in how you hold the device (this is the killer feature for me)
- uses epub which are a bit more common of a format

Kindle Paperwhite
- much better ecosystem
- possibly better prices for ebooks from amazon
- Xray feature is cool
- slightly better resolution (though not noticeable in person, especially if you are used to reading cheap paperbacks)
- glow feature is more even

I'd say they're fairly even. As someone who reads purely "free" books from the library and elsewhere, the Nook wins for me. If you like paying money for your books, the Kindle is probably better.

I just bought last one in near me. Good price. Though B&N ecosystem sucks, I like the feel of the Nook better plus it can be rooted anyway.

I wonder if I order online if they'll give me a price adjustment in store.

Staples in Braintree, MA has 3 of them.
