It's only considered bait and switch if you can prove you received the e-mail offer. Most other people never received this offer. They went on some deal sites and click on the link that cannot be found by navigating thru BB website. They should be taken down but the people who can get there are people who read the deals on other websites.

Remember all it would take is a public announcement about the mistake and Best Buy will be off the hook. Best Buy is allowed to make mistakes and correct them. They are not legally obliged to honor mistakes.

I used the coupon today successfully at Best Buy in Golden, CO. Got the 3TB External Hitachi for $75 with tax out the door. Thanks to the poster and all of the recommendations in the thread!

For all those who bought a gazillion Amazon Gift cards.... can you combine gift card purchases? For example if I wanted to buy a Kindle Fire HD ($200), you need at least 2 gift cards. can you use multiple gift cards for one purchase? Thanks

just got an email from bestbuy notifying of fraudulent hacking activity on their site. hmmmmm. coincidence? probably but still funny.

That's true. But then again you're talking about 10 truck loads of shampoo to make a store lose a few hundred dollars. Most stores do freebie deals on purpose to make you go to the stores and buy something else. CVS and Rite Aid have free after reward dollar deals all the time. But here we're talking about Best Buy losing $6,000 on someone who claimed to get away with $12,000 worth of gift cards on what's obviously an error on Best Buy's part.

Yes. You can combine as many giftcards as you want per purchase on Amazon.

edit: The easiest way to do this would be to add all the giftcards to your account at once, without making a purchase, then go through and buy whatever you want whenever you want. The amount will stay in your account like a lump credit and be deducted as you spend it.

Are you really comparing a bottle of shampoo to thousands of dollars in gift cards?

well, they don't sue individuals. They will make you sue them, draining all of your cash in court.
They will contact the gift card authorization center to tell them that the gift card sales were considered as abused. The gift card center will then cancel the value. If the gift cards are not used to purchase products yet, they will disappear from the balance or your account.
If the gift cards were already used to purchase products not shipped yet, the merchants will cancel your order. If the products were already ship, the merchants have to decide whether they should recall the shipment, because they might receive no money from the gift card centers. If the products were already received, they would ask you to pay for it as the gift cards were no longer valid.

Gift cards (not gift certificate) are considered as cash by laws. Exchanging $50 for $100 in multiples may be considered as money laundry, and tax fraud if you don't have license and do not pay for those extras you get.

And that's one guy...let's say 100 people across the country did the same thing. That's more than half of a million lost simply because of a coupon.
