And if you're a premier silver rewardzone member who spent over $9,000 in the past two years, they don't want to lose you as a customer. Call and complain and lots of people got free giftcards. But if you never bought anything before and you were planning to use the coupon to buy amazon giftcards at 50% off, I'm pretty sure they don't want you anyway. Please don't go down the path about pinning Best Buy to the terms of the original coupon. We hear it all the time about "there was no mention of 1 coupon per customer" Or "the coupon is good til Jan 27" blah blah blah. It was a mistake and they don't have to honor it. I hope people are not stupid enough to file class action lawsuit. The outcome would be the same as someone suing Best Buy for not honoring a 50" LCD deal for $49.99 because they made a decimal point error. "But the ad says that tv should be $49.99" |

I'm in the same boat. I receive the e-mail hours before it was posted on SD. But I had to work Monday and when I drove to the nearest store they were already informed about the scam. I went to another store 40 miles out because they had one of the item I want that was over $100. The coupon didn't work either. I drove over 80 miles for nothing. But this is not the first time I drove for nothing. A lot of time the inventory was wrong or the item got sold out by the time I arrive. And you already know early bird gets the worm. The ones who used the coupon in the morning scored the giftcards. The ones that complained on Tuesday got free $50 giftcards. People who tried to call yesterday and today got denied. I know someone who spent 10 times I spent as Rewardzone silver member and they wouldn't give him any compensation when he called today. Life isn't always fair. This is the reason why I personally know about 4 different loopholes to take advantage of Best Buy but I'll take them to my grave. These loopholes net me less than $100 per year. But I know if I post them they will get abused, and the loopholes will be closed. Best Buy makes a lot of mistakes. No doubt about it. |

SD is not a place to get lessons in morality. I've been asked why I say the person who scored on $12,000 of giftcards at 50% off went to far. I never went to church so I can't tell you where the line should be drawn. I know Best Buy doesn't have any issue with people who used the coupon once to buy giftcard or used it many times to buy coffeemakers or video cards (which they still make money). There is a big difference of getting a good deal and capitalizing someone's mistake to make them pay dearly. If you can't tell the difference then SD is not the best place to give you that answer. Best Buy is at the brink and people who ripped them off only push them to bankrupcy quicker.
Yesterday I used the example of a broken soda machine in my high school days. Back then it was 50 cents. So if you put in a dollar you get 50 cents back and a soda. The malfunction caused it to spit out the dollar too. The school punished those who stole the money and the soda. Then someone said that the school principal was making lots of money with that vending machine. Sounds like it was ok to rip off the soda machine because the school principal was taking kickbacks. Then someone said what if there is a sign saying "free soda and free money if you put in a dollar". My answer was, you will always have two different people in the world. Even if the school puts up a sign asking to be robbed, there will be a small number of us who refuse to participate. Then there will be a larger number of people who will say "but the coupon said blah blah blah" or "but the manager approved". It's no different from being shielded from "I was only following orders" or "I followed the terms of the condition" or "I didn't break the law". Last edited by taiwan; 01-24-2013 at 08:35 AM.. |
