I'm with you. All the animosity towards a store. Honestly, I've found BB employees to be normal folks like anybody else, who are cool if you talk to them. The store itself has tried to be creative and competitive in a marketplace increasingly dominated by online superstores. I've found great deals there and have never had a problem with returns or price adjustments.

Between their rewards programs, gamer club coupons, pre-order deals, and promotions, I've gotten plenty of SlickDeals from "Best" Buy.

For a B&M retailer to match online prices (i.e. Amazon) is an indication of how tough it is to be competitive in this market. They're trying though, and I can't hate on them for it.
Ditto! And our local Best Buy here is AMAZING with customer service. I've only ever been shot down ONCE, and that was trying to price match something after the fact with a competitor's coupon that wasn't supposed to really work anyway.

Anybody remember the XBox HD-DVD deal and combo sets in 2007? http://archive.slickdeals.net/f/633925-dead-Xbox-360-HD-DVD-Player-Heroes-8-or-more-HD-DVD-s-Best-Buy-179-99-update-10-28?v=1

My Best Buy honored four of those suckers for me. And THEN I got $50 gift cards back from Best Buy later for each player I'd purchased after HD-DVD went defunct!

They PM Staples coupons here, Wal-mart ads for online only stuff even though it hasn't been in stock by the time I actually made it to the store, crazy deals like this $50 off $100 ... if Best Buy ever goes away, I'm going to be one very sad SlickDealer.

I'm not sure if you fully get this. So I'm going to go ahead and explain it to you.

You're a jerk. The reason they were snickering at you is because you were arguing with a cashier, a mobile manager, and a general manager about corporate polices they are unable to control. Yes, a manager technically has the power to override a transaction. But how is he going to explain to his superiors why he cleared $300 worth of gift cards after they had already deliberately excluded the item from the list? So, basically, you were making a guy's life miserable all because you felt entitled to something because it was printed on the coupon. You already knew before you went to the store that they changed the terms. Essentially, you were trying to con a couple Best Buy employees out of giving you free things.

I get that we're all trying to get a slick deal because the economy is crappy. But there is a difference between taking advantage of a promotion and doing something unethical. At this point, many of these employees were already having a shitty day, and then you just decided to rub salt in their wounds.

I honestly don't get some people on this site. You're the ones who feel entitled to get your food 100% perfect at a chain restaurant: "I want the whites done and the yellows runny!" or "I need this food done exactly like it looks in the picture!" All the rest of us - who have either worked in the service industry or who have loved ones that do - think you're a jerk and make fun of you behind your back. Like my wife and I are doing right now.
I just expect companies to honor their marketing. Like others have said, this isn't the first time they've excluded GC's and it probably won't be their last. Yes, I do not mind taking advantage of stupid companies who make stupid mistakes like this.

Best Buy is responsible to keep their associates happy, not me. Sorry if BB employees had a shitty day, but take it up with BB corporate's marketing dept for being idiots. I spend money that pays their salary, and I am the customer. I am not the problem, I am helping them make money.

And you're not making fun of me behind my back if you tell me about it.

The Best Buy facebook is kind of hilarious. "NEVER SHOPPING AT BEST BUY AGAIN.AMAZON WOULD NEVER DO THIS"

Uh, Amazon cancels orders on price errors all the time, since you can't go to a physical store and take advantage of the price error.

The real winner of this fiasco was Amazon. How many gift cards did Best Buy sell, and how many new customers did they gain today?

I read a few of the posts and it's pretty funny and sad.

BB does PM amazon, I do it all the time.

Wouldn't that always make BB a better deal as Amazon charges $3.99 for "overnight" shipping and charges return shipping too if a return is not their fault? If you want to order blu-rays from amazon go ahead. I've had too many boxed movie sets come in pieces to bother with amazon unless it's something I can't buy locally.
I'd call UPS if I were you. Never had one damaged item from amazon in all my years, this includes TV's, PC's, Tablets, movies and games. I've also NEVER paid return shipping even when I just didn't want the damn thing.

However, you do make a valid point if you "need" it overnight then yes, buying locally might make sense. However, with free release day and free two day shipping saving 5 or 10 bucks each transition adds up and it adds up quickly.

Went earlier today and bought $100 worth of Amazon GC's for $50. Wasn't thinking I could do multiple transactions, so I decided to go back tonight and try to buy another $300 worth of Amazon GC's, after they changed the terms. Cashier said they weren't good for GC's, but then called a "manager" over who said they changed the terms and was very condescending...snickering and smirking at me as I explained I had a coupon that didn't exclude GC's. I told him I wanted to spend money in the store and wasn't leaving until they sold me the cards.

Then, I found out he was just the "mobile manager" after he left and called the real manager over, after having a minute conversation with him. The real manager threatened to call the authorities unless I left the store. I told him to call them. Pretty sure the two managers chatted about fake calling the cops on me, so I decided to call their bluff. I continued to argue with the manager while he kept saying they changed the terms and continued to tell me to leave the store. He even said I would not be allowed to shop there anymore. So, I asked him how he was going to enforce that. He stumbled over his answer as I kept pressing him, and he finally said "we'll find out when the authorities get here". Ok, right, so you have no idea then.

I kept arguing with the guy for another 10 minutes before giving him the GC's and leaving the store. As I left, I passed out the 4 printouts of the coupon I brought with me.

OMG....me and my big mouth. I told my bro about it and I met him @ BB only to spent 2 freaking hrs there b/c he was DETERMINED to find somethingRoll Eyes (Sarcastic) I had the Q's and he wasnt home at the time I called to let him know about the deal so I had to meet him there to give him the Q's....uggh! He wound up getting a roku and something else. Used 2 separate Q's at 2 different registers. I got NOTHING! The cahsiers were nice enuff to let him on the roku since it was $99. I was gonna bite on a 3tb external HD but i thought it was still pricey $80 after discount. Oh well save me some $.

Wow...this is almost as bad when target did the free $10 gc w/$50 purchase in regards to SD effect on this deal......LOL

just got back from Union City, CA store and scored 2 Kinect systems. 2 transactions, same (high school -- cute cashier)

my total came to $16.24 out of pocket for both since i had store credit and gift cards from a loooong time.

not bad for a kinect system for $8.12 :-)

THANKS!!!

PS. i took the original coupon, she didn't ask or tell me about the new one. But she did say it has to be 1 item over $100. but i had a bunch of Kinect game and she did try to add them all and then discount it, but it didn't work.. so i just got another kinect to flip or gift.

Went to the Northridge Ca location on my lunch break. I picked up the Panasonic 3d blu ray player that was on sale for 119.99 (149.99 regular price) walked up to the register she tried to tell me blu ray players are excluded but she would scan anyway and see what happens...scanned and boom 50 off! Paid 76.29 after taxes. I decided, hey why not get some more stuff? Went back after work and I picked up a Slingbox 360 and Avatar 3D blu ray, scanned and done with 0 problems. I had 10.00 RZ rewards certs so my out the door price for the Slingbox and avatar 3d blu ray was 152.58. All and all a great deal!

Confirmed to work in Manhattan, KS. I got $1600 worth of cards for $800. drooldrooldrool wootwootwoot They did 8 separate transactions and I did not need a manager, she just did a price override on each card to make it $25 instead of $50. I needed one coupon per application, too. I printed off 16.

Proof attached, there were many receipts like that one. Congratulations to those who got lucky... and I do feel bad for those who couldn't share in the spoils. Keep trying though! Big Grin
Duuuuuude! If people weren't such hoarders and didn't do stuff like this they wouldn't have canceled the coupon a week early... and we could ALL have nice things. MadMad

So here's a big F U to Best Buy. Printed the coupon this morning, called and had an item put on hold Made a special trip over there just now. Picked out my item and some filler to get to $100. Finally made it to the register and got hit with the "Well, we changed the coupon". What kind of BS is that. I'm done with Best Buy and I'm done with Mastercard. Screw them both.

Haha, shame on you. Just trying to get a deal and now you hate both companies. Glad you made that "special" trip so you got scammed just like you were trying to scam both of those companies. Bet you also printed out MANY coupons just in case you could get the GC's as well. Haha

BB has been really good to me over the last year with their 100% game trade-ins and cheap console games with Gamer's Unlocked. I basically got a 20 game collection for free and with gift cards to take me through the holidays.

But I don't like what they did with this coupon. I was one of maybe the few who legitimately received an e-mail for the coupon and wasn't able to use it with the conditions stated. The revised link is at least explicit. I don't like when stores put out unclear coupons and then we have to jump thru hoops to use them as management revises the terms throughout the day. It sucks!

Anyone in Sacramento Arden BB get it to work with 2 items or more? I just want 2 $50 T-Mobile refill cards but they might not have it so I might have to get 3x $30 and 1x $10.
I went at 10:30 this morning and picked up a Bodum French Press and keyboard that just broke the $100 threshhold. The coupon went right through without a manager override but that may have changed now.
