If calling to make a complaint at 1-888-BestBuy, SPECIFICALLY request to speak with CONSUMER RELATIONS. Everyone else will give you the run around! Bestbuy will issue you a $50 GC via mail once they verify your receipt for a SINGLE ITEM purchase of $100+.

**I just spoke with the consumer relates dept. and they told me under no circumstances are they allowed to compensate anyone. This directive came down from the big wigs at HQ.** 01/27/13 15:36

Deal is DEAD! Promo was only good for ONE DAY, Monday January 21, MLK Holiday!

Original LINK finally removed from BB servers sometime on 01.23.13

Edit by ReanimationXP, 1/22/13 @ 12:24pm:
Deal is dead officially, but still working provisionally! YMMV.

A correction like this is false advertising! Don't let this one die so easily, SDers!

I just called 1-888-BestBuy and explained that the manager at the Camelback location in Phoenix, AZ was refusing to honor the deal of the printout I had, and warned this could bring about a false advertising lawsuit. She was very nice and helpful. I was trying to buy Amazon gift cards which she could not pull up online (I coudn't either), but she offered to mail me a $100 gift card and only charge me $50 for it. She also double-checked that I would be able to buy an Amazon gift card with my Best Buy giftcard once it comes in. YMMV, good luck!

EDIT: I just mentioned how they took care of the guy below me with the Keurig, and she sent me $150 gift cards for the price of $50 and express shipped them to me without me even asking! This is incredible! They really don't want a lawsuit Smilie

In the news:

Official Updated Coupon from BB Corp. as of 5:40PM CST:

Official Updated Inclusions and Exclusions List as of 3:30PM CST:

Directly from Bestbuy forum
  • The promotion is valid for TODAY ONLY, January 21, 2013.
  • The offer is valid on a single, regular priced item purchase of $100 or more.
  • iTunes, Amazon and other gift cards are excluded.
  • Limit 1 offer per coupon, per household.
  • See below for full list of conditions and exclusions: (read the Bestbuy forum link above for more info)
Ooops, we are losing way too much money, no freaking way are we running this for a whole week. We'd better cut our losses with "correcting" it to a 1 day sale, and while we are at it, restrict to stuff we don't lose money on.

Got $1600 for only $800.

PROOF: Apple TV for $45 (Woodbridge,VA)

$600 for $300

$2500 for $1250

READ the thread for latest info. Some people got denied when using the coupon.

What has been confirmed based on comment in this thread (WITHOUT manager override)
  • Doesn't work on sale items - Not true according to some but Bestbuy forum confirmed this. It is $50 off regular price
  • One Single item must be more than $100 - Not true according to some but Bestbuy forum link in the beginning of Wiki confirmed One item must be at least $100.
  • Doesn't work on GC - Confirmed to exclude gift cards by a Best Buy representative on Facebook, but YMMV

Note from a Slickdealer about gift cards: "Bought the Amazon GCs and manager thought $50 would be statement credit, told me if I did not get statement credit to come back and he would adjust. Did not want to play that game so returned the GCs and got a printer. The manager had to call their support team, and they said that it does not work on any GCs at all. (YMMV of course). It did not take the $50 automatically on the GCs but did on the printer..."
  • Doesn't work on video games - Not true according to some
  • Doesn't work on Kindle Paperwhite WiFi without manager override
  • Doesn't work on Apple TV without manager override
To qualify for the discount, MasterCard must be used on a purchase of $100 or greater. Some people indicate ONE item need to be over $100, but multiple people have gotten it to work with no override on a combined purchase.

Per the facebook page:
Quote :
Hi Amy-

It has to be ANY Mastercard credit card. Mastercard gift cards would not be accepted.

Pre-paid master cards may no longer work if the manager is in the loop

* I paid CASH... but had a prepaid Walmart MasterCard($3 fee) in hand because after the cashier and manager were done doing the override,
they paid no attention to the $50 bill I handed over.Just rang it up and gave me the receipt. Smilie
I think the reason is that the coupon didn't scan on the 4 $25 Amazon Kindle gift cards
and they had to take off the $50 manually. If the coupon had scanned, it would probably
not accept any other payment except MasterCard. Smilie

Other important details:

Not valid on any order, including store pickup.

Valid until 1/27/13

Email link: LINK

Link to PDF on Best Buy's web site: Here it is []

Let's see if I can post the URL as "code" and perhaps SD won't automatically bastardize it:

There ya go. Copy the link in the box above and paste it into your browser. The coupon is ON BESTBUY.COM.

BestBuy response on Facebook:

If you don't have a Mastercard, purchase a prepaid Mastercard from any store and use it. Read cashier instructions on coupon. Doesn't seem to have exclusions regarding type of Mastercard.

Valencia - purchased multiple blu-rays. had the LOTR extended blu ray set for $45.99 so price matched plus bought Ted, Sons of Anarchy, Legend and Red Riding Hood. Manager override needed, he came over and knocked down the price of SOA and LOTR to reflect the $50 off. Cashier had issues with the coupon, had to be scanned first but still needed the override to work. paid with best buy card Smilie not mastercard.

Tustin - Wouldn't accept the coupon on multiple items, it had to be over $100 on a single purchase.

Marina - As of 4 pm, my wife was able to snag two Amazon GCs (cashier and manager didn't care). I was able to buy 9 x 16 K-cups, even though the coupon said ONE SINGLE ITEM. The Marina Best Buy is really lax. It's probably because it's in a small town.

Atlanta (Perimeter) - Not taking coupon *today* "due to error in BBY system"
Duluth - Worked with Roku 2 XS with mgr. over ride

Owings Mills - Gift Cards of any type - no good (manager said no), everything else is okay (minus exceptions) (1/21/13 @ 10:01)

Frederick, MD (21703) - WORKED! needed mgr.. Wanted to buy 3 with seperate transactions, instead mgr took $150 off the canon 430 flash. (scooped for $111, down from $350 on sale for $255)
White Marsh, MD - The manager has asked all the associate to deny honoring the coupon because "the system does not apply the coupon correctly" . I talked to the manager and she refuses to do overrides even though I stood in line for 45 minutes.

St Cloud - I was able to buy the 24" LG LED HDTV Reg Price $229 SALE price $169-$50 coupon = final price of $119 + tax. I was THRILLED! They were very careful at first to make sure it didn't go against any of the restrictions but went through smoothly. I purchased at about 7:30p.m. Monday though. They weren't going to honor it any other day. There were signs all over the store and on the front doors.

Sterling/Dulles - Worked with xbox 320 GB hdd upgrade without any problem
Reston - picked up the last 3TB WD Green. Manager was needed to process the order, but gave me no trouble about the coupon. Got it for $104.99 after tax.
Chantilly - picked up ANOTHER 3TB WD Green. This time for some reason, they gave it to me for $99.74 after tax! Apparently when the manager overrides the price, the result can be different depending on how they do it.
Woodbridge (22193) -Worked on Apple TV w/ Manager Approval at 3pm. Went back and they won't give any discounts to Apple products as of 6pm.

Bloomington (47404) - Did not work on gift cards. was able to use it on a Roku XS 2

Lafayette - Worked on a Nike+ Fuel GPS Watch which was on sale by giving you an extra $10 BB GC at time of purchase.

Coralville - 1/21/13 8PM would not work for GC and was told "only one coupon per customer." Purchased a 3tb Toshiba external hard drive. $129.99 - $10.00 (on sale) - $50 = $70 + tax Manager override not required. Used Walmart GC MC.

Cascade Station - manager had to override on AGC, but seemed to be aware of the coupon and was honoring the terms.

Whitehall - did not work on gift cards, manager would not override.

Austin(78704 on Ben White Blvd) - did not work on gift cards, manager would not override.

Willowbrook(77066) - worked on Intel 520 120GB SSD drive. Coupon wouldn't scan but worked on manual entry.
Edit: They have stopped any GC purchase with coupon here in Willowbrook store. They are NOT doing manual override anymore. Whatever scans will be allowed only. Had to buy a kids DVD on top of Roku-2 XS to bring it above $100. Even school supplied or candy won't work Frown.

well from this deal, Best Buy must have figured out a couple of things:

1. offer a good deal and you'll beat Amazon any day for electronics (unless you decide to sell Amazon GCs with $50 off coupon)

2. There are ENOUGH people with MasterCard Big Grin

3. A lot of people still love BB and cribbers will remain such Wink

congrats to everyone who got this deal and thanks for all the love you showered in your reps Smilie

Went to the Northridge Ca location on my lunch break. I picked up the Panasonic 3d blu ray player that was on sale for 119.99 (149.99 regular price) walked up to the register she tried to tell me blu ray players are excluded but she would scan anyway and see what happens...scanned and boom 50 off! Paid 76.29 after taxes. I decided, hey why not get some more stuff? Went back after work and I picked up a Slingbox 360 and Avatar 3D blu ray, scanned and done with 0 problems. I had 10.00 RZ rewards certs so my out the door price for the Slingbox and avatar 3d blu ray was 152.58. All and all a great deal!
any reason you didnt get the lg bp620? Was this after the bb sent out the memos? It was 99.99 but I bought a pack of gum with it and got a manager override.

When i was in the store I pointed out to the manager who said they would only follow the new list that the original coupon excludes non-contract phones but the new list includes them and that blu-ray movies aren't on either list. He had nothing to say.
Good job! Did you get a non contract phone? Smilie

I had pretty bad experience in stores. Staff and manager are very rude saying I am cheating, blah blah blah

Btw, there is also ambiguity on spending $100 in tore only. Did not say anything about pre tax or after tax. That's was quite bad on stating terms and conditions. My friend wanted to buy a speaker for $99.99 and we got to pay sale tax. So it will be over $100. Still no more override again.

BB has been really good to me over the last year with their 100% game trade-ins and cheap console games with Gamer's Unlocked. I basically got a 20 game collection for free and with gift cards to take me through the holidays.

But I don't like what they did with this coupon. I was one of maybe the few who legitimately received an e-mail for the coupon and wasn't able to use it with the conditions stated. The revised link is at least explicit. I don't like when stores put out unclear coupons and then we have to jump thru hoops to use them as management revises the terms throughout the day. It sucks!
curious. I heard it was meant for bb mastercard owners. Do you own one?

BB does PM amazon, I do it all the time.

Wouldn't that always make BB a better deal as Amazon charges $3.99 for "overnight" shipping and charges return shipping too if a return is not their fault? If you want to order blu-rays from amazon go ahead. I've had too many boxed movie sets come in pieces to bother with amazon unless it's something I can't buy locally.
I agree that Amazon is really bad at packing and shipping movies. Every other boxset that I ordered came damaged. Actually unless you're shipping a few movies at a time, there's absolutely no chance that you'll get your movie in a good condition.

Also Amazon cancels customers' accounts for no reason at all, as a thanks for shopping there for many yeara and giving them thousands over the years.

BestBuy was wrong in the way they treated customers with this coupon. All they had to do is write that it doesn't apply to GC's. Managers at BestBuys can be huge jerks and hange terms on you just because they want to.

I am so late posting this, and I guess it is a moot point now. I went to the BB in Alpharetta, GA around 3:30 PM. I didn't realize the coupon had been changed to 'inclusions' versus exclusions. I took my son to purchase video games and boy was he disappointed. The video games were new, not used and still a no go. Manager was so nasty about it when he first came over to clarify the updated list (I guess he received too much grief around the coupon today). He totally dismissed me and my son, was very passive agressive. I got nasty with him about his demeanor (at this point could care less about the coupon) and told him that all I was looking for was the area where it said video games were excluded and he was totally unprofessional in his tone and demeanor. He stated 'I am the highest manager here, there is no one higher than me" lol - like that really meant anything because I was less than impressed. After lighting into him, he apologized, answered my question saying that departments were now the inclusions, and exclusions were part of those departments where the coupon did not apply. Since video games were not an inclusion, the coupon could not be used. My son really wanted one of the games, so he purchased it on a BB giftcard and we were on our way. Sorry for the book (long post). :/

I was turned down for a paperwhite with the coupon at one store, tried another on the way home and they overrode the code ($75 after tax). Both stores refused GCs after the new exclusions came out, though the one that sold me the paperwhite said that they did end up selling all of their amazon GCs in the morning. Looks like I know which BB to hit up first for the next big deal.

I'm not sure if you fully get this. So I'm going to go ahead and explain it to you.

You're a jerk. The reason they were snickering at you is because you were arguing with a cashier, a mobile manager, and a general manager about corporate polices they are unable to control. Yes, a manager technically has the power to override a transaction. But how is he going to explain to his superiors why he cleared $300 worth of gift cards after they had already deliberately excluded the item from the list? So, basically, you were making a guy's life miserable all because you felt entitled to something because it was printed on the coupon. You already knew before you went to the store that they changed the terms. Essentially, you were trying to con a couple Best Buy employees out of giving you free things.

I get that we're all trying to get a slick deal because the economy is crappy. But there is a difference between taking advantage of a promotion and doing something unethical. At this point, many of these employees were already having a shitty day, and then you just decided to rub salt in their wounds.

I honestly don't get some people on this site. You're the ones who feel entitled to get your food 100% perfect at a chain restaurant: "I want the whites done and the yellows runny!" or "I need this food done exactly like it looks in the picture!" All the rest of us - who have either worked in the service industry or who have loved ones that do - think you're a jerk and make fun of you behind your back. Like my wife and I are doing right now.
Yea. A certain part of the slickdeal population makes me cringe. I love a good deal but people stretch these things to the point they know they are abusing the situation. Part of it these stores are to blame for implementation but at the same time slickdeals pounces like a pack of wolves and turns a small mistake into a disaster.

If I found a store's security system code and posted it as a hot deal to rob the store blind, I'd probably have people giving me rep for the hot 'coupon code'. Then i'd get yelled at for not posting it in the free stuff forum instead.

Got my Brother printer for $55 after price match with Staples and got a 1TB Caviar black hard drive for $55. This worked at the Westminster, Colorado store off 92nd and Sheridan.

Thanks Slickdeals! Didn't even really need the printer or hard drive yet but I will in the future. The way I look at it I got one of them for FREE. Big Grin

any reason you didnt get the lg bp620? Was this after the bb sent out the memos? It was 99.99 but I bought a pack of gum with it and got a manager override.

I didn't get that one because I was reading some of the early SD'ers were getting shot down for products that were 99.99 plus a filler item. Plus I kind of liked the look of the Panny better.Wink
