Does anyone else think that guy who allegedly got $1600 in GC was an inside job? Seriously, only an imbecile employee would allow such a purchase to take place, I hope that BB employee gets fired, it's borderline fraud..

What are the odds the original coupon will work at bed bath and beyond today?

What's best buys return policy without a receipt after the holidays? It used to be they let the usual policy of needing a receipt slide in January so you could bring back something that was a gift for store credit. Is that still the case?
YMMV. Each Best Buy is operated like its own little kingdom. Smilie I was able to return
a crappy Insignia TV that I got as a gift without a receipt. However, I think that was
only because Insignia was Best Buy's own brand? They did still make me show my ID
(used passport). I used the $120(?) credit and bought Amazon Kindle gift cards. Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin
This was about two weeks ago.

Just a FYI - I tend to only purchase items from BBY that I will not return. Their new policy of requiring a driver's license to return items is absurd. Who knows when their database with my DL info will be hacked? Plus, I can imagine that one day the computer will decide to deny my return for no good reason and I will be blacklisted at all of the stores that share the database. I try to minimize returns everywhere just because I hate the hassle, but I will not give my DL for a return with a receipt within the stated return period. No receipt, I understand needing to weed out those serial returners. But otherwise, forget it.

totowa NJ store last night: new rules, expires 21rst, excludes all Apple, no GCs, single item has to be over $100...etc manager was rude and unapologetic, pure BB bullcrap, pure reasons why BB has bad rep.

They took their claim to change any promotion at any time to change this promo into a one day deal, yesterday.
And I hope a lot customers like me take their claim and never go to Bestbuy again.

Nope. I got a lot too. Not that much, but manager didn't seem to mind how many I bought and was doing them individually - he would have stayed longer if I needed him to and had more printed coupons with me.

I have no problem using coupons on deals that are gray area. But there is a reason this thing got so big on Slickdeals so quick. How many deals have 300+ pages in one day? Everyone knew it was an out of the ordinary deal. Good deal for those that got in on it, for those that didn't better luck next time.
Pretty interesting, eh? If the managers had just trusted the computer system, they could have avoided lots of problems. In this case, they might have saved millions of dollars.

some retailers are now using third-party companies to help them track customer returns....

Tried WM. They won't take generic $off or %off coupons - only coupons for a specified item. And that is actually consistent with their stated policy, so I have no bones about them enforcing it: http://corporate.walmart.com/coupon-policy

I plan on going back today to try for some blu rays. Got them to accept 1 yesterday for Amazon gift cards. I'll enjoy every minute of the scene I will make if they don't accept the coupon. To those of you taking a "moral high ground", nana-nana-boo-boo. No way is this anything but a bait and switch. If it weren't, why has an email not be sent telling everyone who received the coupon that the terms were incorrect?! Because they want you to come to the store to find that out (and since you made the trip, pick up a few things). They deserve this entire fiasco.

I know - and that's my point. One return here, one there - all legit and suddenly I am blacklisted because some algorithm decides I fit the profile.

That's might be right short term, long term they pissed off a ton of customers that will never again spend a penny there.

Exactly what I was thinking. What a shabby company!
