I'm not in this for the greed that some of y'all are (to each his/her own) but do y'all think I would have a better shot pm-ing a digital camera instead of amazon gift cards at staples, om, or od? Mom was jealous of the one I got yesterday and I figure its pointless to try at bb today...

Did you show them the part at the bottom that very clearly states that "Mastercard is not the sponsor of nor shall have liability for this promotion"?

Interesting. Even though the coupon states "MasterCard is not the sponsor of nor shall have liability for this promotion."
numerous times. i wasn't going in with a stack of 20 or even an inkling of hope they would take it. but it was worth a shot Big Grin

Definitely still possible... Just got some blurays (5 disneys 3-3d and 2-2d)for less than 44 total using both MC offer and u&s.

YMMV since it required a manager to type in my discount manually. He accidently took the u&s off twice too.

Although it'd be nice if Staples accepted it, I doubt many will. And don't forget that Staples barely even accepts their own coupons half the time.

Shame I missed this one. I didn't see this deal until it was over.

So according to OP, if you call (or chat) BB customer service, complain about yesterday's fiasco about the emailed coupon and tell them that it inconvenienced you to go to BB not being able to purchase the item you wanted due to the error, they will send you the item you wanted for free.

Anybody else tried it?

lol ! You SD'ers made it to the yahoo finance news.

Why SD is not deleting these links. All these articles missed one other big BB screw up. They accepted every other type of payments. Can BB blame any one for this.

Frankly other than gc's, there are only few items worth getting. Lot of stores never accepted these coupons for gc's from the beginning.

Great. Imagine being the poor CS rep on the other end of the line hearing some crazy Dark Knight growl "Do you know who pays your salary? I have the right to make you suffer!"

you lost me? were those xbox live subscriptions? which one cost $60?

laugh out loud LMAO
Xbox live 12 months is $60 at Best Buy. Buy two with the coupon and you're paying $70+tax. Tigerdirect was (maybe still is) selling 12 months for $35 on eBay.

Remember the whole "demon" customer thing from 10 years ago.

It never did go away.

My friend tried to use the coupon today for a Roku. They had signs posted all over the store and at every register stating that the coupon was a mistake. After being turned down by the cashier, my friend was polite and asked to speak to a manager, who offered the item at $80 (originally $100). Manager said that most people were pretty nasty with him and he offered them nothing. My friend took the deal since he wanted it anyway.
The manager was nice. Best Buy needs to learn good customer service will make customers happy, and happy customers will return.

The only time I have seen cops arrest anyone at a store was at Fry's. Not the cheap knock offs like in Palo Alto or San Jose, but the one and only original Fry's. The cops had him on the ground in cuffs. For some reason that store had cops out in front all the time.
Forgot to mention Fry's. Plus, Fry's Electronics (City of Industry, CA) and one of the Target (Rosemead, CA) near my area have several big round boulders/marbles in front of their entrances. I guess they don't crooks to drive a tank to ramp the store and steal expensive items.

No tax on XBL gold in some states as it's a service.

Not going to happen. If they want a PR nightmare, then that would be it. Not just because of all the customers they would piss off, but from their vendors/partners as well. They would get serious flack from Amazon and all the other retailers they sell giftcards for. Buying a giftcard involves trust. That trust would be violated if a customer doesn't know if/when a GC is purchased and valid. Who would buy a GC if they feared it could be deactivated at any point? Thanks Grandma for the bogus GC for Xmas. Why bother buying a GC at all then? GCs are big business for most retailers. A huge business. They won't take kindly to anyone in the chain threatening that business.

And this isn't the first time something like this has happened with Best Buy. Remember the 20% off with Mastercard about 2 months ago? They also allowed GCs on that. What did they do about it? Nothing.
It's very hard to predict what they will do. It's not a PR nightmare if only a handful of people are affected. You will agree Best Buy are not after people who made multiple copies and bought $100 coffee machine, HD, or video card for $50. They are after those who bought thousands of dollars worth of giftcards at half price. In the end Best Buy will tally up the loss/gain for Monday. They will ultimately determine if it's worth it to cancel the transaction for those giftcard purchases. Believe me, it's very easy to do to find out how many giftcards any one person purchased. They can afford to lose customers who bought Amazon giftcards.

Having the same coupon code could help them in this case in ways they do not realize yet. If the GC scammers file lawsuits, Best Buy can justify canceling those orders because they believe with good reasons that the coupons were photocopied from the same coupon code used by the same person. If people want to disprove that claim, they'd have to dig up their e-mails and I'm sure most of them didn't even receive the offer in the first place.

I'm not sure if you're referring to the $10 off $50 Mastercard offer in November. I didn't have luck using it but I did have the store manager override the discount. I don't recall this on the front page of SD. Not too many people know about it because the stores I went to haven't even seen it. But the stores I went to knew about this $50 off $100 fiasco.

I have held my tongue long enough. It seems as though this thread is full of whining people who think they a entitled to something just because they exist.

I like a slick deal as well anyone, but I am not going to crow like a chicken about how I want a company to go down in flames just to cater to my whiny ass demands.

As has been pointed out, BB made a major mistake somehow and they paid for it dearly. But please people, remember BB employees are not robots. They are someones son, daughter, father, mother etc. They can be jerks at times, but put yourself in their position. All day long all they have to deal with jerks like the ones on here who are looking for something for nothing.

I hope one day some of you people are on the other end of the stick when karma comes back to bite you on the ass.

This is the problem with our country today, we seem to have no values or morals. We don't care who we hurt as long as their happy.
