It would only be bait and switch if it was intentional and planned all along which I doubt.
I would doubt that it was NOT intentional. If they weren't trying to use the original coupon to continue to lure people into the store, they would have sent out a retraction email so people would know not to come in expecting to the use the coupon. Instead, they've posted signs that you can only see AFTER you are at the store. Bait and swich at its finest.

You're nuts to even own BBY in the first place.
Couldn't pass it up when it hit 11.90 I felt it was worth more than that short term after seeing the retail Black Friday

How is it a bait and switch if the posted list price is $99.99 but the manager gave him 20 off because of the fiasco? He didn't have to. If you are in sales you should know giving away anything is not profiting. You profit by selling at the maximum price possible.

You are incorrect, intent and/or planning are not required elements of a bait and switch.

they are taking $50 of your money.. because the full 100 in value is yours after the sale. you took the item in your possession..and the transaction is completed. its now yours.

they are depriving you of 50.00.

taking the money back unilaterally would be self help.. and thats against the law. after its left the store.

BB probably would lose that case. Original coupon had no limit on usage and did not omit GC. It was totally YMMV It was totally up to BB to accept it or not.
Were some people greedy. YES they were -but they didn't steal the cards. Every transaction was Ok's by a BB Manager or team member and paid for by a customer.
A few people agreed with me on this "No copies" interpretation. I know I'm the minority here but only because it is convenient and profitable to think the other way. Everybody agreed the deal was too good to be true. So some people tried to take advantage of it early and went all out with giftcards. That just proves that everyone knows how the deal should really be but tries to see if they can get away with something.

Most people still ignored the legal fact that Best Buy is allowed to make mistakes but they don't have to honor them. They can change the terms of an offer anytime.

In fact, I was told they are allowed to cancel the giftcards and refund the money without you knowing. Back in September of last year Target was offering $5 giftcard for every $50 purchase. I had a few of them cancelled without my knowledge because some of the items were canceled. Rite Aid has the policy of prohibiting reward dollars from being used on gift cards. Before that policy was put in place I used the reward dollars on gift cards. One day I found out the giftcards were deactivated without my knowledge. When I realized what they did they gave me cash back on the dollars I used. These are two examples which Best Buy can follow if they choose to.

its bait and switch because they promote something to get you in the store, and then dishonor the promotion, but give you something else....and although they have an edited exclusions coupon, the original coupon is stll up and they've decided to not take it down, so people that don't know about slickdeals or fatwallet, etc, are going into the stores still and getting duped.... it'd be one thing if they took the iniitall coupon down, but they still have it up... and i've stated this before, but this is a re-occurring thing with BB...you'd think they'd have a checklist of what things to write and include, and what things to not write...its not rocket science...

Furthermore, BB gonna contact the FBI and they together will RAID your house to recover those GCs! Be prepared to have your front doors kicked down later tonight or very soon. They will go by the order of the transactions. So if you got your GCs early in the day yesterday, your house will be raided first!

Yeah sure. Great trolling. But great idea though. Why not? Anything to flood that BB CSR phone line!

Didn't say it was likely I just repeated what the broad told me but if there is a way to void a customers transaction unethically without the customer being present Best Buy would be dumb enough to try and pull it off is all I was saying...I guess it makes your day to feel witty so carry on.
