they are taking $50 of your money.. because the full 100 in value is yours after the sale. you took the item in your possession..and the transaction is completed. its now yours.

they are depriving you of 50.00.

taking the money back unilaterally would be self help.. and thats against the law. after its left the store.
If the court and the law determine that the buyer abuse or mass-purchase without seller license, they have no obligation to honor the sales.

I was not allowed to use the coupon. (Park Meadows Mall Location, Colorado) I have made a complaint at the Better Business Bureau. I suggested a good resolution would be a $50 gift card.

If you were denied, you should take the time to issue a complaint as well.

I would doubt that it was NOT intentional. If they weren't trying to use the original coupon to continue to lure people into the store, they would have sent out a retraction email so people would know not to come in expecting to the use the coupon. Instead, they've posted signs that you can only see AFTER you are at the store. Bait and swich at its finest.
That wouldn't help .. the VAST majority of the customers didn't get the coupon in the email, they got it from other sources online. They posted a correction on their website. So no its not bait and switch.

uhm that would require a lawsuit.. and they don't happen over night. the best they could do is sue each person individually and finally lose at court.. thereby throwing away good money after bad in legal fees. by that time..the money would be long gone too.

Waste of time. Well-documented State Attorney General complaint (noting that the original coupon is still up, even though a "revised coupon" is in stores) is more likely to have anything happen. BBB is useless.

But they left the original coupon live on the website with no note or link to the corrected one. It REQUIRES people to get to the store to see the "switch". Pretty good case for bait and switch as long as the original coupon is left live long after they've changed it in-store.

its bait and switch because they promote something to get you in the store, and then dishonor the promotion, but give you something else....
Who says you have to not only go to the store, but enter the store despite signs all over the door and everywhere else clearly advising customers how the new coupon rules work? If there wasn't any warnings whatsoever about the new coupon rules, then I might be on board with you on this, but that's just not true. The customer is made very aware there's been a change in how the coupon is going to be handled. Not only that it's all over their website.

You are incorrect, intent and/or planning are not required elements of a bait and switch.
There was probably some planning and intent to get extra store foot traffic when BBY decided not to email out a corrected coupon (only post something in their forums).... or remove/update the original email link or pdf... and their method of communication to the customer is a print out at the register... Sounds like they wanted to try to make the most out of a bad situation.

I think some of us just have problem with people who have the scorch earth mentality regardless of who they hurt.

As for BB abusing people they are only selling products at the manufacturer's suggested retail so if anyone is abusing customers it is the manufacturers. Also, consumers have the freedom to choose to shop at BB or not and to pay retail or shop for a better deal which I always do. Some people are simply too lazy to shop around or look for deals. I know too many of those folks and they are simply happy to pay for convenience even if it is at retail so you cannot say BB is ripping people off. I am not defending BB either because I only buy things there when I find the price is better than online or if I had to have it today instead of waiting for delivery. Either way in the end you, I, and everyone have the right to shop or not shop at BB.
Same applies to best buy too.. They must not have accepted the coupon and then faced the consequences..
