i am going to call customer service at least once a day for rest of the year regarding this issue. Customer should not have to be punished for the mistake BB made. (punishin this case: not able to pursuit what the origianl coupon had stated). I have a masterbard with a limit of 3k, and i am fully intended to spend 3k to get 6k worth of giftcards or gift certifates. If one have a no limit mastercard...good for you..you should pursuit this with me!!!!

also, i would like to understand the meaning of (AB)use. What constitute abuse of coupon?

i had to call 2 times

the first time the rep said there was nothing she could do, but xfered me to someone she thought could... he seemed like he couldnt be bothered in helping but after taking my info put me on hold to see what he could do, he actually just put me back in the queue, spoke to another person, she also took my info and put me on hold, came back and we got disconnected as soon as she came back

I figured I might as well try again, got a really nice representative, looked into it, saw the information about the change and just said "well I can just give you a $50 reward cert, but it wont be availible for 3-5 days" ... took about 20 min after hanging up and now 2500 points showing up on my account.

Looks like it's up to the rep you speak to and you might be able to still get the credit
Here we go again lol...instead of the local BB employees getting abused now we can dial for dollars.

I wanted to use the coupon to buy a printer, so called the customer service line. They are getting slammed by people calling and only a few of them have authority to do anything. The first guy I talked to did nothing and took a while on hold to get me transfered to the right person. That person looked up my account, verified info, and indicated I would probably get a $50 giftcard in the mail and should hear from them in 24-48 hours. Will see.

You are talking nonsense!! BBY LOST $1.231 BILLION in their last fiscal! (Feb. 2011-Feb. 2012). This current fiscal will NOT be much better!

but how much did the CEO, CFO, top executives, board, etc make and take home as bonuses? i dont have time to read finances for every company...but all i know is that these companies go bankrupt of their own doing because they have other business lined up. mostly all the people on top are living well and dont care about the average consumers (its ok to be wealthy and live a glamorous life bc they probably worked their A$$ off to get there...but they shouldn't be trying to milk the consumer to get there)

but one of my points was that people do what they do and there's nothing anyone can do about it....if people wanna take advantage, they will with every opportunity they get, and there are others who don't take advantage at all or use the "system" properly...I didn't take advantage of this nor do I take advantage of anyone or any company...

Every single person views things differently bc of their experiences in life and its really hard to change ones mind/views on certain things...

I swear, Best Buy is one big cluser f***k. I can't remember the last time they ran a promo. right.
I did actually need to return something there. Too bad I didnt see this in promo in time yesterday. Could have picked up a deal and returned the other stuff all in one fell swoop. Damn.

Just got off the phone with someone from Best Buy Corporate. He said if I purchased a single item over $100. After I purchase the item I would have to call him and he would refund me the $50. Of course YMMV, just be calm and polite and hope someone will replicate.
Must be done by January 27

Best Buy Co., Inc.
7601 Penn Ave S.
Richfield, MN 55423
Best Buy Corporate Office: (612) 291-1000

Good luck.

Sorry, I don't mean to accuse EVERYONE of abusing the coupon. I'll just take your advice and let it be. You're right, of course: People will do what they think is right regardless of what random people on SD say.

As I mentioned, I didn't abuse the coupon nor do i abuse anything like this. even with BBY losing all this money, the CEO and all the people at the top are probably still going home with their big fat paychecks and bonuses. I don't really look at the finances of any company or the personal finances of others...its not my business. but all the CEOs and CFOs, etc have all put themselves in this position, and probably dont really care if the business goes broke bc they also got other ventures lined up. But to call out those who took advantage is just idiotic. everyone lives by their own code, those who feel like its ok, then for them its probably ok, those who restrained, they restrained (and i chose to restrain myself and thats the way I live). As for what your parents thought you about treating others as you would like to be treated, thats what ALOT of parents teach their kids, even mine...hence I don't take advantage of people or companies...i could rant on forever but its pointless...people live as they do and there aint no one who can do anything about it so best to just let it be....

Is that a joke? You think you can get Best Buy to fork over $3k just for you because...?

FYI - IF they decide to start tracking down abusers, those who used their RZ number with their large purchases will be the easiest to track down.

Best Buy will not sue anyone. If their loss is many times the attorney fees, they will cancel the giftcard purchases on Monday and make the greedy GC resellers file class action suit.

I believe many years ago someone already tried to sue Best Buy for not honoring a LCD TV for $50 which was obviously a printing error. I don't have to remind you who won.

This case may be different because we're talking about undoing the purchases Best Buy allowed to go thru. But still, I have examples from Target and Rite Aid deactivating giftcards without informing the buyer. I'm pretty sure Best Buy will target the abusers. I doubt Best Buy will punish those who used the coupon once to buy giftcard because they couldn't find anything else to buy in the store.

And i hope you get absolutely nothing ... Seriously? You sound like a spoiled little child. You were not "punished". They didn't have to offer any coupon, but they did and left a part out, that they later corrected. You are not "hurt" in any way from this. If they had never posted the coupon you would be in the same position you are right now. So therefore you are not entitled to ANY compensation.

I'm sure if you really wanted to pursue it, you could find one to do it pro-bono and get a cut of the class action suit which would likely be the means to get anything... But thats just crazy if you want to take it that far. It was a mistake on Best Buy's part that people took advantage of.
If Best Buy really wants to do it, they will make you and the lawyers go broke with law runarounds. There are federal and state laws for gift cards, coupons, and retailers' rights, consumers' right.
