At least this coupon worked only in store. The $50 off $100 coupon at reliable.com is for online order. Anything that looks interesting were gone within 1 days even though the coupon is still active.

And you seriously believe if they could do that for gift card purchases they couldn't track down other "scamming" purchases made with the coupons that weren't excluded, like the Apple TV.
If they see multiple purchases of the same item by the same person, they can flag the person in the system against returning products or even buying products. They can't cancel those sales because the actual product is in the customers' hand. On the other hand, the actual money of the gift cards is somewhere but not in the merchants' banks yet.

They called the 1-888-Bestbuy number and demanded a free $50 gift card?

Depends on how many purchases you are talking about. If they do that to someone who bought say 4 or 5 of something as they wanted to and planned on giving as gifts they would be alienating the customer base they desperately need. And again, there's a tough time on the distinction between "scamming" as it being used by some in this thread. Is it really "scamming" using it on something that the coupon didn't exclude?

Posting my experience here since a lot of newcomers still aren't seeing it:

Edit by ReanimationXP, 1/22/13 @ 12:24pm:
Deal is dead officially, but a correction like this is false advertising! Don't let this one die so easily, SDers!

I just called 1-888-BestBuy and explained that the manager at the Camelback location in Phoenix, AZ was refusing to honor the deal of the printout I had, and warned this could bring about a false advertising lawsuit. She was very nice and helpful. I was trying to buy Amazon gift cards which she could not pull up online (I coudn't either), but she offered to mail me a $100 gift card and only charge me $50 for it. She also double-checked that I would be able to buy an Amazon gift card with my Best Buy giftcard once it comes in. YMMV, good luck!

EDIT: I just mentioned how they took care of the guy below me with the Keurig, and she sent me $150 gift cards for the price of $50 and express shipped them to me without me even asking! This is incredible! They really don't want a lawsuit http://static.slickdealscdn.com/imag...lies/smile.gif
Nevermind, forget it.

And so far the cases cited where gift card balance was pulled involved the same store gift card. For this, Best Buy has to go convince several other merchants to cooperate and help them pull the balance. I am not sure those other merchants will be receptive to what one could argue that it was BB screw up.

Only 793 thumbs ups....come on people stop being greedy...I know OP doesn't need the Rep but come on REP recognize REP!!!!!!!!!!!

FYI: Best Buy working with slickdeals to identify all the people who thumbed up and got the deal. Buyer beware....All part of legislation to make people use their real identity online.

By far the best deal this year.

Waiting for Target to make the same Buy 1 Get 1 free game deals.

Whether Best Buy will blacklist someone depends on how many purchases of the same item is considered as dealer stocking by Best Buy. I have been warned by Target for purchasing 3-4 Xbox consoles (2 Kinect 4GB and 1-2 250GB without Kinect) during 2011 holidays.

but the old coupon states on the bottom that it is a BB promo.
In bold it says
" MasterCard is not the sponsor of nor shall have liability for this promotion"
Confused
Damn, I wish I had noticed that today when the BB manager told me that Mastercard was no longer doing the promo. That was her reasoning for not honoring the coupon. Liars.

Did they think you were going to sell the systems to Cuba? The cashiers can care less...half the time they are texting.

Maybe it was sarcasm....

I cannot stand this store. They are sketchy on price matches, coupons have infinite exclusions, prices suck, and they can't even print a coupon and live up to its wording.

Pathetic store. Can't wait til they are out of business.

Often gift cards at the stores are underwritten by some 3rd companies for financial purposes...
