Some of us have a life which includes work, school, etc. and cannot just drop everything to sit outside of BB at 10AM to take advantage of a great coupon. Some of us with lives *did* get the coupon and planned to use it by the 27th as stated on the coupon.

I am pissed that instead of just tightening up the exclusions to prevent obvious abuse and fraud, BB instead decided to cancel the coupon altogether. They didn't need to do that. I don't shop at BB much to begin with, but this whole fiasco reminds me why I avoid them whenever possible.
Well, if not because of this site, the coupon would have been valid until the 27th.

Being on SD for while i agree with you! I can also tell that touchpad thread was way bigger than my thread. Although am flattered for some cheap thrill for making it to top 10 threads of SD if that happens Wink
The problem you have is that this petered out really fast. The Touchpad thing went on for ages and had all sorts of entertaining asides. A million views is *amazing*, but I don't think this will be top 10 in the end (not even close to top 25 at the moment).

I agree.

So, what, you got denied, move on. I went to Best buy after work, my first item got denied because it was on sale, second item was not. Score! Had second item been denied, or they told me coupon is no longer valid, I would have just walked away and saved my self $30.

I wouldn't be surprized that these are the same people from the "Occupy..." movement. They really feel that they are entitled to everything.

Perhaps they can organize "Occupy Best Buy" movement.

Interestingly enough, most of the people in line at Best Buy on Wednesday before Black Friday were from the "Occupy" movement, hoping to get in on a deal and resell. So, enterpreneurial spirit is not dead in them, they just want the low hanging fruit...
Man, your comments are just hurtful and ignorant. I wish I had taken the time to visit Occupy Wall Street to see/meet some of the occupiers. Since you are generalizing and being judgmental of millions of people across the country coming from different 'walks of life' coming together for a cause, I'll "shoot you back" with this: just go back to watching the Kardashians and let the grown-ups talk....

I just got the revised apology email...

"Dear XXX,

Earlier this week, you and other select customers received a special promotion from Best Buy that was connected to your MasterCard®. Our marketing department made a major Boo Boo and a bunch of people on that nasty SlickDeal site figured out how to take full advantage of the Boo Boo. Since we never alert the local stores as to what's going on, most of them didn't have a clue, so they muddled through trying to figure it out as the day went on. When they realized all the Amazon gift cards were swept clean from every Best Buy store in the America, we decided we had to put a stop to this nonsense. Amazon doesn't need our help in becoming more Amazonian. We sincerely apologize for the Boo Boo and any inconvenience we have caused you. We hope to serve you better in the future, but don't hold your breath.

Thank you,
Ms. Smith

I hope those who scored really big on giftcards on Monday will tell your children this:

"Kids, daddy want to tell you what daddy did in January of 2013. Best Buy had a $50 of $100 coupon sent to selected few. Daddy didn't get invited. But daddy found this great SD site that posted it. The coupon was too good to be true because it had no restrictions. It said "No copies. No dealers" but didn't say anything about 1 coupon per customer. So daddy printed out lots of it and went to Best Buy in the early morning. The store was stupid enough to take it. So daddy scored $6,000 worth of giftcards for half price until Best Buy stopped taking them. Damn Best Buy! The coupon had no restrictions! How could they do that to me? Best Buy later said it was a mistake. Fvck them! It was their fault. Anyway. daddy found out Best Buy lost 50 million dollars that day. The following year Best Buy closed for good. Daddy was so proud to have played important role in bankrupting Best Buy. So kids, if you see something that's too good to be true, try it anyway. If it works, repeat as much as you can until the stores can't take them anymore. Daddy only made a few grand from that deal, not enough to take our family out of this $hithole called home. But if you see a deal on SD daddy will make sure we hit the stores before they realize what hit them."

I'd be challenged to name one electronics store worth visiting.

Well, two.. Fry's is good for a laugh every so often, then I remember why I hate that place and vow to never return (again).

Best Buy's ONLY redeeming quality is that they provide a B&M location to go lay your hands on something before you purchase it online... but this is clearly not a winning business model.

Maybe they should start charging admission.

Since the coupon was available elsewhere (FW, DN, etc.), even having been submitted (allegedly) to coupons.com by BB, Inc. themselves, I highly doubt it.

HHGreg doesn't exist west of the Mississippi
CompUSA doesn't exist at all
Nearest Microcenter is a 15 hour drive,

So none of those are really applicable in my case.

IMO, anyone who hates Best Buy or wants them to go out of business simply dont know how to shop.

Im not trying to defend BB because I'm glad they exist but I'm also not in love with them. But that doesnt mean they don't serve a purpose for a savvy shopper. They often have good sales. Theyre a decent showroom. Reward Zone. Local purchase and returns. And when it comes to situations like this coupon then I just dont understand the level of anger towards them.

If any SD veteran got the email then they likely planned their day around getting into BB as early as possible because a deal like $50 off $100 was clearly too good to be true. So if they hit a best buy for $200 in GC's and then hopped to the next BB to get a hard drive and Apple TV then I have no problem with it because thats how the classic SD effect works. Diligent cheapskates get the best deals.

But where I have a problem is when these people who never got the email start crying foul because at 8PM then new rules were established to prevent the coupon from being overused. Sure, you can whine for days on end about how "CA law states..." or scream "I'll never shop at this store that i never shop at!" but lets be honest. The moment ANYONE saw the deal then they knew it wasnt going to last so why act like such turds about a situation playing out exactly as expected?
I very much like BB. Personally, my only gripe(s) (FYI, I did get in on the deal) bounce with BB is that they took until today (the 23rd) to remove the original coupon (e.g.; fraud) AND their lack of (consistent corporate) policies leading to the infamous "Best Buy experience" horror stories I'm sure many have read about here and elsewhere. If anything, that is what I would like to see change (for the better).

Overall, this whole 'incident' has been a great advertisement for SLICKDEALS with articles all over the web and in printed media mentioning the site. YEAH!!!
