The 2004 called and said it want its in car video back.

We got these as warranty replacements for our 7" versions. They work very well. They handle DVD copies about 99% of the time. When headphones are plugged in, it makes for a more peaceful roadtrip.

Edited to add: I have the dual screen/dual player version of this.

Bought this exact model (14 months ago). We use it almost everyday, as I like to listen to music when I drive and the kids watch their movies.

Ya, ya, I know about the whole isolation, kids obsessed with electronics thing, you should talk to your kids, etc..I just like to listen to my music when I drive and not be distracted and worry about the topics mentioned above at other times

Anyways - the only problem we've had is the Car Adapter Dual/Split switch went out. We ended up just buying 2 separate car/cigarette adapters and using the wall power adapters for each unit. Works out really good when only 1 child is in the car. Never had a problem with DVD players themselves.

They work great. but they don't come with a battery back up. So when we have to stop the engine in a trip, kids get very upset since it'll play from the beginning. so I decided I'll get one with battery back up next time.

Full Resume on Power Loss

The DVD-Video player remembers where you stop watching last time when it is powered off directly or when the power supply discontinued. If you did not switch to play another disc, your player will resume play where you have stopped the movie last time just by reloading the disc. Making your life a lot easier

I own this model. It's okay, but I think a lot of people have trouble with the second screen crapping out (I can't vouch, since I never use it). It also doesn't come with a remote, and the stop/pause/play buttons on the front are really tricky to press sometimes. It's a decent player, but I absolutely would not pay any more than this. In fact, I'd probably have been happier with a cheaper one with a remote.

One thing I do really like is that it plays avis, which is really cool on longer trips. I'll load up an entire season's worth on one dvd. It does not resume after losing power while playing video files, however. That's only for DVD-format discs. (Edit: it doesn't play mkvs, unfortunately. Booo...)

Is the resolution seriously 480 x 234?

Ya a remote would have been nice. My 9 year old has no problem with the controls though.

you can get a cheap tablet on amazon for 130 dollars and play netflix and hulu and what not all day long

or a 15 inch lap top that play's dvd's for 100 or less at the pawn shop with a better resolution mind you it will be crappy but it will have more then enough processing power to play all the same dvd's this does and some games to.

I'm not knocking the deal - just if you spending 80 anyways why get a 1 note instrument when you can get a piano

good points, although sometimes you just want to drop in the DVDs you already own. can you do netflix and hulu on a tablet while driving, without a data plan? does it store content offline?

i got a nice dual screen DVD system on cowboom for $25 and it was awesome for a long drive.
