Wouldn't the BIC V1220 with a 7-year warranty for $137 be a better deal than this F-12?

Appears sold out for me, but I am considering the down-ported V1220 due to a crazy dog. |

I've owned both the BIC F12 and the klipsch RW-12D for about a year. I can honestly say that both are GREAT subs (personal opinion). They both add a lot to your home theater and I bet you would be happy with either. However, I have recently sold my BIC and purchased a 2nd RW-12D. I can go much deeper into how and why I came to this conclusion, but I did a lot of reading on the internet, and did a lot of sound tests with some friends and we decided the klipsch was the better performer (at additional cost of course). If you have the money, I'd recommend spending the extra, but if not, you will be very pleased with the F12. The Klipsch was a failed $1,000 sub, but at 300 bucks it is a great deal! There is a ton of great information out there: Frequency Response of RW-12D http://www.avsforum.com/t/1390563...nse-graphs BIC F12 and V1220 and RW-12D comparisons frequency curve comparison: http://www.avsforum.com/t/1391243...nse-graphs RW-12D vs Jamo 650 http://www.avsforum.com/t/1426307...woofer-g2g[/QUOTE] Last edited by FD58; 01-22-2013 at 02:06 PM.. Amazon has the V-1220 for $178.72 [amazon.com] plus FS. The quantity is pretty low right now (only four left). There's not much price history on SlickDeals for this item. Would you guys jump again at this price? |

The F12 up until last spring, was regularly going for around $185. Then for some reason, it went up to $200 or higher at most vendors. For example, the F12 had until now, been pegged at $199 at Amazon since last spring. So, this current $186 price at Amazon, while no great shakes, is the lowest it has been in many months. As for V1220 vs. F12 that some other commenters mentioned, back when I did some AVS Forum research on these two subs, my impression was more people seemed to like the F12. On the other hand, more people seemed to own the F12, so maybe that is why it got more praise. I bet either sub would put out some nice bass for movie watching in terms of the price, if placed in the right room location. I have read articles and discussion regarding front vs. down fire design - couldn't find a consensus on which design was best. But I do have a small front firing sub in the corner of my living room, firing directly out at viewers, and providing a surprising level of bass considering the size and power. For that reason, I decided to stick with the front fire design and go with the F12. But I will have to make sure my kids don't put a foot through it, lol. Some deals I got thanks to SD:
$75.40 - 32gb (4 x 8gb) Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz RAM $107.05 - Intel i5-2500k CPU $54.05 - Kodak ZX5 Playsport video camera $105.66 - Intel I3 2100 CPU and MSI H61M-E33 motherboard combo $63.65 - AMD 840 Phenom II X4 CPU and MSI 880GM-E35 motherboard combo $88.95 - XBOX 360 Arcade 4gb console w/ 2 games |

One thing to note on the F12 and the V1220 is peak and RMS watts. People see the F12 is 475w peak and the V1220 is 430w peak. You need to look at the RMS watts, which is 200w for the V1220 and only 150w for the F12. If you push the F12 pretty hard the amp will get VERY warm, which isn't really a good thing. My V1220 never gets as hot when pushed hard.

I bought the F12 two years ago and have been very satisfied with it. I bought it back then for around this price. I don't remember seeing the price change that much since then though I haven't been consistently monitoring it. I use it mostly for movies and gaming.
