I got 2. Easier for me to program from the computer then to sit and try to program it by entering all the number options of a standard remote. Not too complicated looking so hopefully my elderly parents can manage it.

Looks like the deal is dead. I would consider biting but I had one of these in the past (higher end model) and I just found it overly complicated. Like if my TV was already on and I pressed watch tv it would turn my TV off. That was frustrating.

I don't know about the 200 or 300, but on 600 you can change the response from the standard 600 ms and see if it works for you. However, what you describe is prefectly normal. If you tell the remote that you are presisng the key 10 times, it will follow, by sending 10 of those commands. I think if you reduce the lag time to 100 ms, it will just send them out faster. I could be wrong, though. 5 TV's in the house with Verizon FiOS and we only pay $3.99/month to connect all 5 of them. Thanks to Ceton InfiniTV4 and CableCard.

I got one of these a while ago. It's pretty easy to program and was nice to have a universal remote that works for my old receiver with a broken remote and all devices I had... BUT one complaint is that is it noticeably slow. Maybe only a fraction of a second delay, but it makes it hard to channel surf! Even adjusting volume and channels, it can queue up 3 "clicks" and then kind of catch up -- kind of annoying if you want it to be your main remote.

I hadnt been paying attention and didn't realize you could get affordable Harmony remotes. Any concerns w picking up a factory refurb of a 200/300(300i)? Or should I wait for a SD on a new one?

I can easily manage 2-3 remotes to control the devices. But, try explaining to your wife/girflriend/child/parents/grandparents/babysitters/guests that you need to use the "TV" remote to turn the TV on, and change volume, and use "Cable Box" or "DVR" remote to change channels, and "DVD" or "BluRay" remote to control the playback... With Harmony, I have "Watch TV" "Play Movie" Play Music" ect buttons. Anyone can figure it out. |
