NOTE: This 500GB drive is faster than it's 250GB little brother. Maximum write speed is 330MB/s [samsung.com] vs 240MB/s [samsung.com]. The 120GB version has the lowest maximum write speed of 130MB/s [samsung.com]. This is due to the type of memory used [anandtech.com] (i.e. TLC NAND). The max read speed is the same among all 840 Series drives (530MB/s).

This is for the full retail installation kit. The bare drive was $13 less on 12/30/12 with a Far Cry game code (note the "K" in the sku for "kit" instead of "B" for "bare"). This kit includes the brackets, SATA cable and the Magician Software.

Also, that deal sold out fairly quickly and I missed out on it. This is the lowest price I've seen since then. And for only $13 more you get the full kit, minus the game code of course.

tl;dr - No Wink

Keep in mind, this drive is a 7mm Ultraslim form factor. 7mm HD's are pretty much exclusive to netbooks. Laptops have 9mm HD's.

So, a 2mm bracket is required for laptops (unless you mod it yourself). You definitely don't want 2mm of play in your case. The connectors may break.
