Mountain Hardwear Men's Windrush Jacket (black, barn red, classic navy) $37 + Free Store Pick-Up

is this good for general warmth (cold, non-rainy weather) or is it just good as a windbreaker?

Not a ton of reviews or detailed descriptions on this jacket out there. Anyone know about the water resistance/waterproof level of the jacket? Would definitely pick this up as an emergency wind/rain shell to store in my pack if it'll keep most of the water out.

Also, of the few reviews I did find, people are saying it runs a bit large size wise in comparison to similiar jacketes from Mountain Hardwear. So if you plan to wear without layering, you may want to consider one size down.

I have a MH waterproof shell, the quality is top-notch and very functional (bought it around 75% off on steepandcheap). Mountain Hardwear makes great quality products that do what they're designed to, and this is jacket isn't designed to be waterproof. the material is based off eVent, a waterproof membrane as to opposed to coatings which eventually wear off over time and need to be revived, and the same material mountain hardwear starts with on their high end waterproof garments so it will not only be waterproof but also highly breathable (very important).

you can sometimes find them even cheaper on steap and cheap / geartrade.com but not always the size / color you want. I went with the MH simply because of lifetime warranty and the killer deal I got.

According to this article [spadout.com] 30,000mm can "Keeps you dry if a river falls from the sky, all at once, and lands directly on your hood while you’re skiing through horizontal hail and firemen blast you with a hose."

Pretty sure you are comparing 2 different jackets. I do like MH stuff, however.

Of course they are different. One is $157 and one is $38.
