FYI, the Outlet phone line just opened up, was able to get them to process the coupon via the phone as their Outlet site states that the deal is good until 8:59 CST this morning so there's another 45 minutes to take advantage of the deal. I'm releasing a $489 i5 XPS 8500 with an upgraded video card that I almost went for instead of the slightly pricier i7 from my cart right now if anyone wants to snag it. To be honest, it was a complicated deal where you bought the system bundled with a monitor and then cancelling the monitor to get to the $450.

I've been weighing wether or not I wanted a fancy ultrabook (was looking at lenovo, dell, and hp) to replace my aging Latitude D830 (Almost 5 years old and still kicking!) or go for another business-class notebook with a 3 year warranty from Dell. From the look of things, the Dell Latitudes have become even more solid (as evident by the 3 year standard warranty even from the outlet), so despite my lust for the fanciest cheap gadget I could buy, I went with a refurb Latitude E6430 for $561 shipped. It has a 128GB SSD and only 4GB RAM, but I snatched it over an identically speced e6330 with double the RAM for the same price because it has one of those HD+ screens (1600x900) and that extra real estate will be very useful for me. Ideally I would have gone for the fully loaded e6330 with a 256GB drive and 8GB RAM for like $60 more, but I really don't think I'll be able to transition well to the screen size after using the ~15" 1200p screen of my D830. Thanks for the thread! I'll leave an update when I receive the laptop with its condition.

Only a few people got that early on. For most of us you couldn't cancel the monitor.

Received the refurbished Latitude E6430 I ordered last week today:

-The display on mine (ordered one with a 1600x900 display) has a bad pixel (I think it's dead). Also, the vertical viewing angles are fairly horrible, worse than my old D830 and the panel as a whole seems a bit washed out. It's too bad they still use crappy TN panels. That's not really a hardware defect, but the pixel is.

-There is a gap between the palm rest and the metal chassis near the touchpad that makes the palm rest flex more than it should.

I contacted Dell with pictures and they're sending me a box to replace the screen (thanks to the premium panel guarantee) and hopefully remedy the warped chassis. Other than that and the so-so display, it looks to be in excellent condition and is a great upgrade for my D830.
