I have one of these, if you're making sushi - do it by hand. If you're just wanting a circular blob of rice that you can fry (or even bake) - get one!
I know how to roll sushi with a bamboo mat, which I find to be more traditional and allows me to craft more eloquent looking sushi. But a lot of times when rolling sushi, I will have a few friends over who have NO idea what they are doing. This is where Sushezi shines. You can take a 100% unskilled sushi chef, put them in front of this thing, and have them crank out their own custom rolls. Quite a nifty device, works really well for what it was designed to do, and its very durable.
I've used a mat or just a kitchen towel with plastic wrap laid out on it. I had zero trouble after my first one, which still wasn't bad. I'm a fumble fingers too. The tough part to me seems to be getting the rice correct, the rolling doesn't seem to be that complicated to put $16 into a unitasker.
You guys must have some pro blood. I've attempted to roll my own sushi, and even had one of my Vietnamese friends attempt to teach me how to do it.....It's been an abject failure at every turn. I grabbed one of these as it's the price a couple of rolls at my favorite local sushi joint.
