Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Verizon upgrade or new line $199 at Amazon

Is there a plan that is heavy on data, moderate on text, and low on talk minutes? On our non-smart phones we use prepaid tracfone because we use it so little. My primary desire for the N2 is data, but I am having trouble justifying going from ~$10/month (prepaid) to $80+/month for a service plan for data. *sigh*

I apologize cause I'm new, but I have a Verizon phone (dad's family plan). If I bought this anyone have an idea how much this would cost me to activate? Do I just buy the $200 phone and pay like a $40 activation fee then I can use it? My Verizon says I'm not eligible to upgrade until November. How does this work?

So basically, if you want to save money, prepaid is the way to go right? Even if you have to pay for the phone outright? Or is it better to sign up for the phone, and pay the cancellation fee? I need to cut my phone costs, but I need reliable service. I'm tired of T-mobile's dropped calls.

You can't get the $200 price because your upgrade isn't up until November. $200 is for upgrades/new lines.

depends on your circumstances and needs. i'd do the math first, and factor how much convenience is worth to you. for just 1 person 1 line, i'd almost guarantee that prepaid is cheaper if you buy a phone from ebay/craigslist. there's a lot more to consider if you have grandfathered unlimited data, or are on a family plan. new postpaid contracts on verizon are pretty much ripoffs.

I want to upgrade my smartphone to this Note 2, but dnt wanna lose the unlimited. I also have an add-a-line that is a basic phone. If I upgrade that add-a-line to a smartphone and choose 1 of the tiered data plans for that line only (not shared data plan), and then when I get the Note 2, can I jst transfer the Note 2 to my line and activate it? and then jst cancel the upgraded add-a-line so that it's back to being a normal basic phone line again?
If this would work, then that would be awesome!!

You can definitely do this if you buy the Note 2 directly from Verizon - if you buy it anywhere else, read the fine print about transferring the phone

I checked the Target Mobile close to my house, and they don't offer this price on the Note 2. They said the price is for online only.

I just got a Samsung Galaxy S III and I think Note is too big for you to put in your pocket.

Radio shack is 199 ONLINE only, also. Same page format as target mobile online. (Interesting?) Its true, B&M target charges 299, but online is 199. Either the online deals this week are shortlived, or verizon is testing the waters before dropping price...?
