Collection Agency Problems, please help guys!
Long story short: I signed up for a class at a local college last summer and decided to drop it a few days later dude to my work schedule. Basically, the college still held me responsible and ultimately reported me to a credit agency.
I sent this letter to the first agency: http://www.creditinfocenter.com/f...ter9.shtml
To which, they stopped responding.
A couple months later, a new collection agency sent me a request. I sent them the same letter, to which the only proof they sent me was a ledger from the college stating the separate charges that they claim I owe to them. The document has no signatures, simple a list of charges (debits/credits) on my account for them.
I wasn't sure what to do, and I was sent another letter from the collection agency a few days ago reminding me that they have the right to obtain judgment.
I just spoke with the agency and they said that judgment is not imminent, but that I should resolve this matter as soon as I can.
What should I do guys? Ask for proof of signatures and that I actually took the class? How can I get out of this? Lastly, how can I check that this has been kept off my credit reports, like I initially requested in the first letter?
HUGE thanks!
