I'm not sure why the college is operating like it is (requiring payment after attending the class) but it just seems fishy to me when all of the schools I've ever heard of (even community colleges) require payment up front... Regardless, it would be pretty obvious if the course was dropped by checking his unofficial transcript for a "W" grade. The system sounds kind of weird but maybe it's just some really small obscure community college. I can't believe the only way to drop a class is via telephone; where's all the people working at the registrar?
