There is no phone or tablet with the name of the Galaxy Nexus 7. Your talking about the Nexus 7 which is made by Acer and is a Tablet. Tablet's don't have radios, so you can't make a phone call from anywhere. They are totally different devices.

IDK if this is a good deal or not. I'm not a member of costco so I would have to join and there isn't one in my town would have to drive 45 mins to even get to a store. Then with 7% sales tax, we're talking $610. It seems there might be better options.

The Nexus 7 is nice but the display still leaves a lot to desire. It's $299 for a N7 with a GSM radio. I find the performance of the Note2 much better then my Nexus7. The Spen works well and I use it all the time. I really like clipboarding images and text from the screen without having to do a full screen shot. If you really want a tablet...buy the Nexus7 but don't try to use a N7 as a phone with voip and bluetooth, you will be very disappointed.

Don't bring up the Nexus4. The N4 still has availability issues. The N4 is a nice phone but is nowhere near as good as an S3 or GNote2. Sound quality on calls with the latest Galaxy phones is far superior. In noisy environments you will have a tough time talking to people on the N4 but the Samsung phones sound clear and pickup much less background noise. Also the camera on the Sammies is much better.

I read a post on SD that someone was able to talk the Costco employee into selling them the phone without a contract. In order to complete the deal in the system they had to create an unfunded prepaid account. YMMV.

Nexus 7 is made by Asus! Don't give Acer any undo credit, the last Acer tablet I tried sucked.

Just wondering why you say march? I was reading tech radar and they say the release date was rumored to be march but was still firmly said to release in May?

Yes tax sucks but you can always go with a member or have a member buy you a giftcard. Try purchasing a $25 gift card from the Costco website. They won't deny you the ability to spend your gift card at a store.

I remember getting S3 at Costco on the value plan for 385 around July. At that time they were selling all phones on value plans at 200 higher than the classic plan. Over time you still save a lot on family value plans if you can get a good deal on the phones.

Costco typically won't sell devices on existing value plans. only new lines. Also this is run by a 3rd party named wireless advocates.

I don't think it's fair to compare the price of a new Value plan to your 8 year old Classic plan price. I think it would be better to compare it to the price of a new Classic plan.

For a new plan with 4 lines sharing 1000 min, unlimited texting and 3 lines of unlimited 4g data, the Classic plan price is $190/month. For the same number of lines and features on a Value Plan, the price is $130/month. A savings of $60 per month for 24 months is $1440 saved over 2 years, which is pretty significant.

Of course some people may be on old Classic plan pricing and have a monthly rate fairly close to new Value plan pricing, minimizing any potential savings. But for new customers it's worth it to look at the Value plans.

Let's get back to the matter at hand and this thread and stop trying to convince people who don't understand what value plans are all about that this is a good deal--it IS good deal; I was looking at contract-free note 2s today at a t-mobile kiosk and they were $700. But the question remains, if I am already on a value plan, can I get this deal without renewing my contract?

Would Best Buy or the T-Mobile stores price match this?

Only Samsung and maybe God knows when they'll release it. The public/journalists are speculating.
