Had some rebate CCs & returned some BF stuff last minute onto them so I used 3 cards to pick up one of these (had to do a phone order to use more than one CC) so I missed out on the $3 Cashback that would have covered the shipping & handling but still worth it.

This time last year I had Zero SSDrives and thought it would be some time before got any. Thanks to the SlickDeals, Newegg (Samsung 830) & TD Intel X25-M deals I now have 8 for less than what just 2 of those drives would have cost not long before that. And A.F.A.I.C. it's better quality controllers & NAND than you can get anywhere close to that price range in the newer models. WOOT WOOT!! - "Thanks Eastbunny Balk Balk."

But it's a better controller & better MLC NAND. The write speeds are slower but not compared to mechanical hard drives. The latency is what really makes the difference. I'd take only slightly slower in real world environments (not in meaningless benchmark terms) any day if it meant I was buying better components that had a much better proven track record. Stability and longer life at rock star speeds compared to mechanical hard drives make it a deal.

I just got the rebate card on the intel x25-m last friday, and spent it today. (no issues, despite the warnings from several slick dealers) It took about 4-5 weeks to process, but came just fine. Also, I installed the drive on a two year old Dell INSPIRON 14R (tough deal to get to the HD to replace it) and found that despite it not being SATA III, the deal was well worth it simply for the incredible increase in speed of load time on windows. Now it seems to take 10 seconds to load, when it seemed to take 1-2 minutes with the old traditional HD. I'm happy!!! I love slick deals like this one.
