- Can you or someone tell, what if I have google tv(LG) and i want to run smart apps on TV but listen thru this system? Do i have to run separate cable (optical) from TV to Receiver and change input?
- Can it directly take input from the same HDMI cable (if my tv can also send audio signal via HDMI coming in?)
- Someone mention in the review its not 3D? I didn't understand well, does it mean, if my blu-ray is 3D and i try to play 3D movie on TV, it can't use this system? or needs complex connections?

Is this better than the Onkyo s3500?

Yamaha has smaller speakers, but each speaker has a tweeter. Yamaha also has a powered sub-woofer...

if your tv has ARC then you shouldn't need the optical cable and just use the HDMI
this is 3d ready as well as 4k

HTR-3065 is the receiver that comes with Bundle whereas the other one is RX-V373. The only difference I found so far is the onscreen GUI display for HTR-3065 whereas 373 does not have one.

I bought this couple months back @ $400. It's a pretty decent replacement over my old Z5500 that had the control unit go bad.

Don't judge by the smaller 8" sub. This unit hits pretty clean and for the price point, I'm fairly satisfied for the amount paid for.

2 quick questions before I purchase....can the speakers be hung (keyhole or anything on back), and how would this be compared to a decent budget reciever (like a harmon/denon on clearance around 199) and an energy classic 5.1 setup or klipsch 500 (my original plan)? This would not be my primary system, going in a large bedroom

I don't even understand how you can compare this Yamaha system to an Energy Classic setup... One costs $300 while the other costs about $500.

At $300, this is excellent. At $500, the Energy setup is better by a good margin. It's also $200 more.

fully aware the other setup will cost me more, I've never heard either in person....monoprice has a branded take 5.1 system for under 300 shipped, and 200 for a reciever at least, this looked like a very capable system, wondering if it could compete w/ the other setup I was considering.

I'd rather have this Yamaha system over building your own, the $300 price tag and sound quality of this unit is awesome.
