You keep asking if people are "stupid" or "retarded", yet you're the one who wants people to park $100K for far too long in an inflexible brokerage with outsize fees (for that level of assets) and for only a taxable $500 bonus. Really?

If you're on Slickdeals and you can't figure out a way to make a hell of a lot more than $75 with $10,000, you're doing something horribly wrong. A $500 profit for giving them $100,000 of your money to invest is pretty worthless. There is absolutely nothing slick about this.

Because it's not lucrative if you can do math.

The money has to stay there for a half year, so your return is only really 1%. Then there is tax on top of that, you can easily get that 1% by park your money at a online saving account.

I think for a 1099-INT law is they have to start sending out after $10 (typically from checking account bonuses), but I have received some for like 14 cents and 1099-MISC start after $600 (Sharebuilder bonus)
