Would this SSD be overkill for an early 2008 macbookpro as it's capped at 1.5gb/s...?

I thinking of going instead with the Seagate Momentus XT 750 GB hybrid ssd. obviously not as fast, but has to be a strong increase in performance then the hitachi 250 GB 5400rpm that is in my MBPro currently. I could use the extra space as well.

just wish the Seagate Momentus XT 750 GB would go back o sale for $100 or close to it. I missed out at Christmas time/new year's on that price.
