Manatee County sheriff's deputies continue to investigate an incident in which a man fatally shot an alleged robbery suspect Sunday night at his Bradenton home.

Two men were sitting in the carport of a residence in the 4200 block of 24th Street West about 10:20 p.m. when three suspects, dressed in black and wearing masks, approached on foot. James Brady, 26, allegedly pointed a handgun at one of the victims, ordering him to the ground, according to the sheriff's office.

That's when the victim, who has a conceal-carry license, pulled out a handgun, according to Dave Bristow, sheriff's office spokesman. Gunfire exchanged between the two men

Score one more for the good guys.

I tell you this: If you want to make a successful pro-gun argument to anybody who isn't a complete moron, don't try to convince them that Gandhi was a militant.
you probably wouldn't buy it if I claimed MLK jr was a staunch conservative Republican either, wouldya?

Look Out! It's little plastic army men! Duck and cover!

Cupcakes With Army Soldiers Get Kid In Hot Water At School

CARO (CBS Detroit) A 9-year-old boy’s birthday cupcakes sparked a school controversy that just keeps growing, with scores of people lining up against a school principal who found the cupcake’s topping “inappropriate.”

The boy was chided, and so were his parents, for cupcakes featuring little green Army men on the top.

Schall Elementary School principal Susan Wright called the parents at home and said the cupcakes were insensitive in the wake of the Sandy Hook school shooting. School staff pulled off the Army men before they were served.

“He’s a little 9-year-old kid and it was his birthday cupcakes,” Brown said. “These guys (soldiers) are heroes, and too many people are confusing them with psychopaths.”

I didn't. I quoted him. A complete moron might suggest I misquoted him.

WEST ALLIS (WITI) — A Marine Corps veteran was able to stop a man early Tuesday, March 12th from nearly kicking a woman to death. It happened near 102nd and Lincoln, and Wisconsin’s concealed carry law made his efforts possible.
.....................
“I said ‘stop’ and he starts coming towards me and that`s when I drew on him. He started getting closer and I said ‘get down on the ground,’” Blackmore said.
.....................
Blackmore didn’t catch any names either, but said the victim told him the man is an ex-boyfriend.

Yet another patriot driven to extreme measures in defense of freedom and liberty:

Do you understand that by attributing every negative gun article to 'patriots' and the like you undermine your own credibility? You make yourself appear to be an extremist who is willing to lie and distort information to support your POV. If your POV can't be supported without hyperbole what does that say about the quality of your POV?

He's already demonstrated his willingness to lie and to ignore the evidence of his lies. At least 3 separate threads he has been caught in lies and has not been willing to adjust his claims or admit that they are untrue. He has merely ignored the evidence, hoping people won't actually read and/or remember his lies.

I can understand and completely sympathize with a disagreement. However, I think the disingenuous or even outright false posts are counter productive. They alienate rather than persuade. I suspect all of us do it to some degree at various points in time but it's something none of us should be proud of. It's 'winning' a debate by appealing to the darker parts of human nature.

Can you please explain how this has anything to do with LaPierre? I carried no gun today yet I wasn't robbed. Does that make those who advocate carry laws liars? Bad guys have been stopped by many things. Are you going to claim that LaPierre would rationally claim that ONLY a gun and NOTHING else including things that have on occasion stopped armed people in the past never actually worked?

Look, the question is simple, are you actually trying to advocate a position or just troll a topic? If you are trying to advocate a position don't start by insulting the intelligence of those with whom you are debating. If you are simply trying to troll please mod alert you threads after posting since I'm pretty sure trolling isn't allowed.
LaPierre recently said [wikipedia.org]""The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun" This incident proves him a liar. Which I'm fairly certain he knew it wasn't true when he said it.

LaPierre is the troll.

Are you really going to claim he meant that 100% literally? Again, are you trying to troll this thread or really foster conversation?
He said it emphatically. AFAIK, he was purposely misleading; a liar.

Why can't we discuss him being a liar? Why are you making excuses for him?

Again, are you trying to troll the thread or actually have a conversation. At the time he said it I'm sure people could find an example where he was wrong and I'm sure he would agree that there are examples. There have been examples where you have been shown to be wrong on this forum. Do you expect if you say something like "more guns means more crime" that people should totally dismiss your claim if in some cases that hasn't proven true?

I know you are a big Obama supporter. Are you willing to admit he is a liar if someone finds one example of something he said that wasn't true.

You are getting caught up in a single detail of what he said while missing the message. You either can't see the forest for the trees or you are more likely pretending that finding your single tree the rest of the forest doesn't exist.

You do yourself no credit for trying to make such an argument. Think about it, what is your objective? Is your objective to persuade the pro-gun people to change their views? Are you trying to persuade the undecided? Such tactics don't work because when people see what you are obviously trying to do they will dismiss you as the noisy fringe. They will assume all your thoughts on the subject are as poorly construed as this one.

So again, are you trying to troll or do you want to foster a real conversation?
Well, it seems we are in agreement that what he said is not true; ie. a lie.

If he had not said, "only" then we might not take him literally, but his intent was to promote guns as THE solution, which while it serves his agenda, is not factual.

I thought that was rhetorical. This is a real conversation.

We're in at least partial agreement that LaPierre lied.

If its a real conversation you should recognize his statements as part of oratory rhetoric and move on.

Feinstein has said, “Military-style assault weapons have but one purpose, and in my view that’s a military purpose, to hold at the hip, possibly, to spray fire to be able to kill large numbers.”

A doctor friend of mine has one that he uses for target shooting. It has never killed anyone. Does this mean you agree that Feinstein is lying? Since it is clear that 100% of these weapons aren't used exactly as Feinstein suggests then you must agree that she is lying.

Your comment about LaPierre is just as ridiculous. Since you said you want to have a conversation, not just troll the thread the first step would be to drop the hyperbole and stick with reasonable points of discussion. It's clear that LaPierre is suggesting that having guns available would be the most effective way to stop this sort of thing. Unless you are suggesting that throwing phones at mass shooters is a more effective approach we would have no choice but to assume you are taking the conversation and thus the people whom you are conversing with seriously. So if you are trolling, so be it. If you want to have a serious conversation the first step is to stop insulting us with posts such as the one you made, retract it and reformulate the point into something along the lines of say, "Are guns in school the only effective solution" or "Would guns actually be an effective solution?"
