Exchanging loyalty points
Didn't see it posted anywhere but I may be wrong, if so, apologies. (This is the first time I am starting a thread)
I just discovered that points.com is a website where you can exchange (or trade or buy) loyalty points between DIFFERENT loyalty programs, that too, your accounts can be in different names! Just exchanged some Amtrak Rewards points for cool United miles!!!!
Now I dont know if this actually works, says my transaction is in process, but if it does, you can use up all those un-used or soon-to-be-expiring points for something worthwhile. While the trade option comes with a fee, the EXCHANGE option seems BEST (although they tend to under-value your points) for those points/programs that you anyway do not care.
Just go and sign up to points.com and see if you can use it.
(AFAIK it supports AA, Delta, United, Alaska, Hawaiian, and other major airline programs and many more upto 100 I think)
