3 gallon Compressor $29 at home depot YMMV

Just managed to successfully order this item online for delivery $20 + tax. Now to see if they actually fill the order. Anyone else who wants to try:

1. Search google for hdx 3 gallon air compressor
2. Use google cache for second result.
3. Click add to cart button.
4. Checkout.

I tried this process with the $49 porter cable, but it said it wasn't available online anymore and kept kicked me back to cart. When I tried it with this one it worked and generated the confirmation email.

Not sure mine will ship, but can this run air tools to work on the car? I can't always fit my electric impact gun and a 90 degree air ratchet could be great for getting bolts off.

Just got a confirmation email using this trick; let's hope it ships!

Just did this also and the order appears to have gone through. In for a cancellation LOL...

only tools for a car this will work on is the inflating tires tool! for car air tools, you need at least 1.5 times the CFM the tool requires and almost always more than a 15gal tank or more.

OK so I finally got a working compressor and one of the things that bugged me was that the light on the switch didn't work so I decided to hook it up. It was simple..just one wire needed to be added. Here is what I did.

Stock switch compressor on, light off.

First unscrew the 6 Phillips head screws around the top trim piece and separate the 2 pieces.

I next put some grease on the plastic gear attached to the pump...it looked unlubercated to me and I felt a little grease never hurt anyone.

To get the light to work you basically have to add a wire from the neutral to the thrid prong on the switch. To do this I then gently removed the wires connected to the switch and removed the cap on the neutral wire splice. I then twisted the new wire onto this splice and added a wire nut.

I then soldered the other end of this wire to the 3rd prong on the switch and connected the other 2 wire back up to the switch.

Now reassemble the 2 halves together making sure that the wires are as far away from moving parts as possible and bam you are done.

Awesome - thanks for the pictures. Wonder why they just didn't add that wire? Guess to save a few pennies. Why did you solder it to the prong? Did you just not have a fitting to crimp on like the other connections? Just curious.

scutzi128 -- thanks for the suggestion ; congrats on a very useful post on that. Question about lubricating the gears. Did you lube the shaft or the teeth or both ? Also it looks like you used white grease ; correct ? I've got a decent supply of white grease (inherited from my Dad) - so I can use that. Thanks.

I get a little orangr button with cut off text starting with A. That adds to cart.

Edit... home depot gives an error when adding now. Looks like they fixed it.
