How are you guys finding out that parts info on an X230t you don't have yet? When I go to http://ovp.lenovo.com/lenovo-ovp/...dex.action and enter my order #/phone #, I just get a one-line thing saying "order processing 3438CTR" with my price.
EDIT: Found out how here: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=57171 Here's a parts number PDF: http://download.lenovo.com/parts/...121010.pdf Last edited by GoldenTiger; 01-24-2013 at 07:17 PM.. |

For everyone interested, once you have serial + machine type you can look up your parts as configured on your machine here: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/p...ookup.page Last edited by ducky2802; 01-24-2013 at 09:17 PM.. |

For all those wondering about the displays on these guys (x220 and x230 tablets/nontablets) - here's my experience (having heavily used the non tablet and multitouch version, briefly used the gorilla glass version):
Non Tablet: In my opinion, the best display of the bunch if you don't need touch input. Even though all three use the same or very similar IPS panels, the multitouch version and the Gorilla glass add an extra layer on top of the base LCD - and you do lose some quality. Also the laptop is overall lighter and feels more sturdy because it doesn't have the swivel hinge. I seem to get better battery life out of the non-tablet version as well. Multi touch version: The most muddled screen of the three in my opinion. That's not to say it's bad LCD. But in comparison to the other two versions (non touch and gorilla glass) - the image quality suffers the most from the multitouch layer. One can argue that the glare on the Gorilla glass version is more detracting, but it comes down to personal preference. Atleast the multitouch version is antiglare. In terms of usability - Windows 7 is not finger friendly at all. You can make the DPI bigger to make buttons easier to hit - but you're already working with a small screen - so it's not really practical. Finger input lacks precision. The pen input is much more practical as the digitizer is quite precise. On Windows 8, you'll have a much better experience with the finger input - atleast in the "metro" interface (as that was made for touch). That said, once you're back to the standard windows desktop - you'll run into the same problem with the lack of precision on hard to hit buttons on a small screen with finger input. In tablet mode (using it like an ipad), it's pretty nice and finger friendly as long as you don't plan on doing any serious work. Gorilla Glass: I only spent a few hours with this one - but my take is that the display is more crisp than the multitouch, but loses points for the crazy glare. As covered in the multitouch version above - for those of you on Windows 7 and only have the pen input Gorilla glass version - you're not missing anything here. I didn't get to test Windows 8 on the Gorilla Glass version, but from using the multitouch version, just having to use the digitizer in the "metro" UI interface is not very intuitive. That said, for those just going straight into standard windows - you won't miss much. ----- Anyway, that's my experience with the three. None of them are perfect, just find the one that suits your needs. I see alot of people with buyers remorse with the gorilla glass display, but honestly - you're not missing out on much - especially if you're still on Windows 7.
