More frames the better. To me soap opera mode looks more realistic and fluid. Moreover, it tends to reveal crappy cgi very readily - probably forcing movie companies to perfect their craft.

Actually the gap between GT and VT is greater than ST and GT as GT/ST share the same glass panel. GT has more bells and whistles than ST but they are essentially the same TV. Thus ST has the best bang for bucks, but 60" and 65" are all sold out and out of stock. What's remaining are the GT's and VT's. The eternal question is 55" VT or 60" GT. Most would prefer the bigger screen size as the differences are more noticeable.

damn, I am kinda wishing my current panny plasma would keel over. I've had it since mid 2005 and its still going strong. I sooo want to pick up the 65"VT...

That's why I'm afraid to buy a TV any place other than Costco's, Amazon, or Sears. Costco's selection isn't nearly as good as the electronics chains, but from what I hear, their customer service is a pleasure to deal with. Amazon is usually excellent for returns and immediate exchanges. With Sear's, you're relying on the enormity of their operation.

Went with Best Buy. When i was able to buy my TV went to BB and unfortunately the code at the time to save $100 off the 55GT from pauls was not in effect. But the salesman worked with me and gave me $50 off - so at that time $1299 plus tax.

Returned it two days ago and moved up to the 60GT. BB price matched Pauls, and wth the 50 off 100 MC coupon I paid $1649 plus tax. First time I ever returned a TV, much less that size, to ANY retailer, and Best Buy gave me no problems. Geek Squad just plugged it in - did not run any source material - and that was that.

So close to jumping on this but have never purchased from Paul's TV. Max size my space will fit is the 50" and I actually have both of these models on deal alert:

TC-P50GT50 $1050 with SAVE90 code
TC-P50ST50 $950 with SAVE50 code

From the specs, it seems like a good choice to go with the GT for just $100 more. Anyone disagree? Also, any coupons to lower these any more or anyone having luck PMing at Amazon or B&M stores?

Paul's TV is definitely not Best Buy or Amazon (Amazon being the best). Bought my 55GT50 through Paul's since they were $100 cheaper than Amazon. The CSR gave me a nice story about customer service, etc and I went ahead and made the purchase. After the purchase, no return calls when my order was delayed (CC linked to PO Box) and no return call when I called regarding a separate issue. So don't believe the CSR when they say, "I got your back, you just call me." Carefully read their return policy before purchasing! Their return policy online is different than what the CSR may tell you. The deal I got from them was very good, but once they drop it off at your door, you own it.

Update 1-25-13: A CSR called back this morning and apologized for the no-return call. Odd, that was out-of-the-blue. He's working with me regarding some quirks I'm having with my GT50. Not your standard issues I see on AVS - just a couple things that are really bugging me about the TV. So I give them a big thumbs-up for not only calling me back, but giving me some options regarding the odd, but real issues I'm experiencing with my GT50.

I'm in the same situation, and I'm deciding to go with the GT for the dual core processor and the THX modes as I will be using it during daylight some of the time.

Sears charges a 15% restocking fee, unless you plan to buy something else

Get the GT50 for sure. Definitely worth the extra $100.
