Reds have a better warranty and a MUCH better power on time rating. Thus, seem to be more liked.

I personally would not TU a $130 3TB Seagate only for the fact that it was $99 for a long time during BF week, which a lot of us slickdealers bought the max amount allowed per customer,

and not because it is an inferior product (maybe) or for its short warranty.

I could have gotten the black friday deals, decided to wait and get something more reliable... WD Red 2TB for $99 yesterday. Thrilled so far, quiet (no stupid chirping sounds) and cool.

I just can't jump at these prices. It's crazy, but I'm jaded by the "great" deal I got on a 2TB external USB3.0 for $70 on Staples clearance a couple months ago. They had 6, but I only bought one (posted on here about the rest...just so I don't get flamed for not telling anyone)! I'm still kicking myself for not getting at least another one, ripping it apart, and throwing the bare drive in my system. Can't even get close to that deal it seems. So instead I'll keep plugging along on my (almost) full 250GB and use my external as my overflow and backup drive.

Here's hoping for some more reasonable (and reliable) drives.

Hmm it doesn't look like there are any other deals out there right now. My 1yr old 2TB Seagate is crapping out on me clicking on boot up and intermittently being recognized within Win7 now and seems like I'd only be making the problem worse by replacing it with another Seagate.

For what its worth, I have the same drive. As mentioned previously it does have a clicking/chirping sound and it works fine....when detected. I have had issues with the drive not being recognized/disappearing in both Windows 7 and Windows 8. I originally assumed it was linked to my SSD but once I replaced that the issue still remained. I cannot use sleep/standby/hibernation with this drive installed as it will not be recognized when the system resumes.

With all that being said, I'm not sure if my particular issue is with the drive itself/ a fault with large 2 TB drives, or an issue with my motherboard. I'm still investigating.
