This may be one of the last chances to use that $5 credit from amazon for editors choice that expires at the end of this month (many game purchases from the amazon holiday sales got this credit) . It can be used on these already on sale games.

Complete gaming newbie questions here:
1. Are any of these games Win 8 compatible? Apparently a copy of Mass Effect that I bought a long time ago is not, without major headaches. 2. What is all this Steam/Origin stuff? Why do you need clients just to download and play a video game? Thanks for indulging me - the last FPS I loaded was Quake. ;-) |

I can't say for certain if these are win8 compatible, but most of them should be. Steam/Origin are the gaming industries response to piracy. They are basically like iTunes, but for games instead of music. Steam is definitely preferred over origin. The plus side to these DRM services is that they keep your games patched automatically, and sometimes will keep your save game files server-side. |

None of my Activision/Blizzard games require Steam or Origin. Many indie games are available with zero DRM. Another client option outside of Steam or Origin is from GameFly. |
