Symantec Rebates - "Your rebate request did not pass our audit process"

Hello all,

I recently received invalid notifications on 3 Symantec rebates (more should be coming) all giving the reason "Your rebate request did not pass our audit process". I'm assuming this is 1 product per year thing that McAfee does (or did?) but it says this nowhere in any of the fine print on any of these Symantec rebates. I've contacted parago about this and I waiting for a response but I thought I would start this thread cause I'm sure other people will be in this same boat. If anyone else has any experience with this "invalid reason" or is in this same boat with Symantec, post you experience.

This does not appear to be affecting common-average-everyday, 1, 2, 3 products a year type users enough to cover a large household & extended family's devices. - The audit according to Norton is the result of excessive number of MIR's leading them to assume/believe those people are reselling. You may choose to not reward a company that does this, however if you read the thread you will see that some people claim 50, 100 Norton rebates a year.

If you've been screwed by this, take your case public and shame the rebate processor. Write up a concise report of the problems and email it to tips@consumerist.com - it's owned by the Consumer Reports guys. If they publish it, you'll probably get resolution very quickly from Parago/Symantec. They don't want/need the bad press, especially since their rebate processing used to be amazing.

Also, dunno if it's still valid, but the CEO of Parago is Julie C Spottiswood of Plano, TX, and her number is/was (972) 403-7485 (her older number from 2008 is/was (972) 538 7200) if you want to try that. Someone else who had issues called and get resolution quickly, according to their post. If anyone tries it, post if it's still valid.

AVOID ALL NORTON REBATES AT THIS POINT UNTIL REABTES ARE NOT DECLARED INVALID DUE TO AUDIT ! SUBMIT AT YOUR OWN RISK.

If Symantec can't be trusted to honor a rebate, how can they be trusted to secure a computer?

Also if your from Pennsylvania please let the Attorney General know what's going on here http://www.attorneygeneral.gov/Complaints.aspx as Parago was sued and just had a settlement with the state of Pennsylvania less then 2 months ago

I just got my first rejected rebate with that same audit message. My eyes popped open. They're following in footsteps of McAfee. Looks like no more purchasing Norton...

Similar thing happened with Kaspersky. I don't think they state the limit 1 per year term on their rebates. A couple of my submissions never made it into the system so they asked me to fax in my photocopies. I didn't hear back from them for many weeks. Finally I called in and they said they're auditing due to the number of submissions. So it sounds like I won't be getting those rebates back. They're starting to look at the number of submissions you have and assume you're reselling based on that so they reject the rebates. I think that's wrong though because they can't assume that. I just love to buy free after rebate stuff to pass out to friends and families. But if they won't send the money back, I don't know what we can do...

My last one came in a week ago for the NIS/NG/NSW combo pack. I usually do 2 N360 and 2 NIS rebates per year. I guess now I need to track my rebate history better. Anyway, I still have 4 unopen NIS (3U) license and 3 N360 (3U) license that would last a few years.

It seems that if they really want to do a once per item limit, they should state that on their rebate forms.

I'm gonna go contact them in a few minutes but it that doesn't work, we should try to contact the retailers. It is in their best interest to keep us happy and could apply some pressure. If we meet the rebate requirements, we should get the rebate back, plain and simple.

I already contacted them this morning, and they were not at all helpful. They told me they didn't know why symantec invalidated it and they would send it for review which would take 7-10 business days. I have my Norton antivirus which just came in the mail from frys and I am trying to decide if I should just send it back or do the rebate anyway, hoping all this will be resolved. This is such a disappointment to me because symantec rebates were always so easy, and quick to get back, with usually only a 3-4 week turn around. Blurg!

same situation here. I think I'm just going to return it rather than getting another rejected. I didn't bother contacting the rebate center, expecting exactly the response you received. The rebateshq people will act dumb and point fingers to the manufacturer. Same thing with iolo rebates - I get an email saying rebate being processed but in a day or two, it'll turn to say invalid due to missing upc or missing receipt (what a lie). rebateshq will tell me they're not allowed to change the record and to contact iolo. iolo will tell me to contact rebateshq. the way they do business is messed up.

Is everyone who is getting rejected buy the triple bundle in December and or Thanksgiving as well? Did anybody get rejected that didn't buy them earlier? If everyone is getting rejected for this rebate, then I feel that there may be a glitch and I would be more hopeful. If only the people who already bought is in December and or Thanksgiving are getting rejected, then it doesn't look so good. I bought them all three times, as well as all their other software that was free after rebate.
