Symantec Rebates - "Your rebate request did not pass our audit process"

yup, saw that, but wasnt sure which you were going to do.

Saw post on another forum that speculated that rebates that areD's rejected were because original name or address assoc w the rebates were not same as those that register the license number? But dunno how they link specific lic number to your name. Ie, Symantec is accusing you of being a reseller? I haven't gone to look where in the terms of service or rebate that it sayids you cannot resell. Just speculating... Also it was mentioned they may have done an "audit" by buying software from eBay w missing UPC and somehow tracking it down to original purchaser? Again a speculation, so the question is how many of those ppl who report rebate rejection are reselling their software? And if you buy and have never resold, have you gotten rejections?

I'll admit I do resell but have all my rebates valid, so just lucky haven't been caught yet, still speculating....but am looking over my shoulder from now on... And I rarely use eBay to off load my stuff

It's impossible, never could be happened. In each kind of Norton products, all the boxes of the same vendor do have same UPC barcode number. They just get a random box, and ship it to their customer. How could they know which licences match with the boxes that they shipped? Also, there are no any licences tracking between Retailer and Symantec. Symantec makes the softwares, and Frys sells it. That's it.

I think this is an easier way to get our $ back rather than talking to Parago/Symantec. But of course, the way they're doing this is messed up and we should let the State Attorney Generals Office know about it.

You can't track anything with those, they are there to deter shoplifting.
