Symantec Rebates - "Your rebate request did not pass our audit process"

Yeah! Making money is evil. Anyone who submits rebates to make money deserves to be cheated out of hundreds or thousands of dollars because Symantec does not owe them a dime. It says right in their rebate stipulations "Offer not valid to OEM manufacturers, resellers, or on any products to be auctioned or resold." Symantec does not have to do anything to prove you are a reseller, because the very fact that you submitted 20 separate offers proves you are a reseller. You have no rights! All your rights are belong to Symantec!

For Symantec to judge without evidence or proof regardless of how many rebates you do is most likey illegal. If they want to limit the number of rebates per user, than they should state that exact number in the rebate form and not leave the decision open to speculation and arbitrary denial. I was told this by a legal firm looking into this.

What you do is buy a bunch free after rebate and get a bunch of audit denials. File a small claims lawsuit and take the unopened boxes to court. Case over. The attention by the media will be the icing.

So Newegg would not help out at all? Did you talk to them via email or phone?

It was via e-maill, and no, they were not willing to help at all. They said that they have no control over manufacturer's rebates.

Just checked some of my rebates and they have been selectively "audited." I do rebates for me and a friend and we both do the SAME offers in the same orders. Some of mine have invalidated statuses but some of his are not. It doesn't make sense. Will post offer numbers in a later post when I get organized.

Were any of your rebates thru Staples purchases?

Has anyone received an audit and/or invalidation for Staples rebates?

No, they are all through Newegg and Frys

I also received an invalidation for an AVG rebate which is strange...

I'm experiencing the same as you. A friend did the exact same rebates as me last year, I got audited, he did not (and still hasn't).

Read some of the other Posts including mine. Mine AVG, Webroot and a lot more have been Invalidated.

A friend of mine who has done more than double of what I have done in Rebates and hasn't got even a Single Rebate Invalidated and I've got about 50 Invalidated from all different Manufacturers.
