Symantec Rebates - "Your rebate request did not pass our audit process"

ryanm2890 30 January 24, 2013 at 03:46 AM
Hello all,

I recently received invalid notifications on 3 Symantec rebates (more should be coming) all giving the reason "Your rebate request did not pass our audit process". I'm assuming this is 1 product per year thing that McAfee does (or did?) but it says this nowhere in any of the fine print on any of these Symantec rebates. I've contacted parago about this and I waiting for a response but I thought I would start this thread cause I'm sure other people will be in this same boat. If anyone else has any experience with this "invalid reason" or is in this same boat with Symantec, post you experience.

The offers I'm officially having this problem with are:
13-43642
12-41409
13-43641

P.S. first post so go easy on me

Got an email today from some one in Parago to call him about the Norton Rebates I had submitted to Frys. Called and went to his Voicemail. I guess Frys is now asking them to call instead of Frys doing the Investigation and processing a check themselves.

Do you mind sharing the contact info for the guy at Parago? I think the more people the contact him the better....

Also, for those of you with overdo AVG rebates, I got a stack of em in yesterday, just an FYI...

Newegg told me that they are not involved because it is a manufacturer's rebate, so they said I would need to contact the manufacturer directly.

Frys took my info and haven't heard squat from them.

I just chatted with the Symantec rebate dept again.
They offer NO explanation for rebate denial.
I hope the State Attorney Generals Office slams them hard.

This is the worst rebate company I have ever had to deal with in over 15 years. This takes the cake by all means. Total BS.
I will forever give them great reviews on their product.

I haven't heard back from Frys after faxing in the photocopies last Thursday. Just finally got around to filling a complaint with the Attorney General - State of California. It was much easier than I thought. Less input fields than the BBB form. Also submitted to BBB although it probably won't be much use. The more complaints we get in, the better.

Was your recent N360 purchase from staples?
I've probably done 5 symantec rebates last year. This will be the 2nd one this year. Not sure if that will trigger an audit.
Yes, that Norton 360 was from Staples in the end of Jan I think.

Was your faxing about the money back for Symantec software you bought?
Thanks.

Will they refund if you never activated it since it states "A copy of the product key that you used to activate your product."
Did anyone go the route of claiming a refund from Norton and get their money back?

FYI, I'd take your case public and shame the rebate processor. Write up a concise report of the problems and email it to tips@consumerist.com - it's owned by the Consumer Reports guys. If they publish it, you'll probably get resolution very quickly from Parago/Symantec. They don't want/need the bad press, especially since their rebate processing used to be amazing.

Also, dunno if it's still valid, but the CEO of Parago is Julie C Spottiswood of Plano, TX, and her number is/was (972) 403-7485 (her older number from 2008 is/was (972) 538 7200) if you want to try that. Someone else who had issues called and got resolution quickly, according to their post. If anyone tries it, post if it's still valid.

If I don't get the rebate Im just gonna return software to Staples. Since it was a SER, I didn't have to remove the UPC.

Yes, I might have to do that. The thing is I have around 50 rebates (including 18 from Symantec) invalidated so don't know if they will do anything in such a case.

As long as you didn't violate the terms of the rebate as stated, they have no legal choice but to honor it. I think a phone call to the CEO might help them see that, and some shaming on the consumerist.com site can't hurt, either.

I will write the detailed report this weekend and then wait for a week before sending to consumerist.com and also maybe call the Parago CEO.

Thanks nod
