Symantec Rebates - "Your rebate request did not pass our audit process"

ryanm2890 30 January 24, 2013 at 03:46 AM
Hello all,

I recently received invalid notifications on 3 Symantec rebates (more should be coming) all giving the reason "Your rebate request did not pass our audit process". I'm assuming this is 1 product per year thing that McAfee does (or did?) but it says this nowhere in any of the fine print on any of these Symantec rebates. I've contacted parago about this and I waiting for a response but I thought I would start this thread cause I'm sure other people will be in this same boat. If anyone else has any experience with this "invalid reason" or is in this same boat with Symantec, post you experience.

The offers I'm officially having this problem with are:
13-43642
12-41409
13-43641

P.S. first post so go easy on me

Valid how? As in it was in "audit" but then changed to valid?

Symantec received a new rebate submission and marked it as valid, as opposed to outright rejecting all new rebates they receive. At least that's the case with me. So far I don't think anyone has reported that an existing rejected rebate has reverted to valid.

I got the same case likes you. Symantec marked my newest rebate from Newegg as valid. But they're rejecting all my currently rebate from Frys. Something wrongs with them Frown .

sounds like there is something going on between frys and symantec so symantec is invalidating all the rebates from frys.

Odd.. just got another status back for 12-41421 $20 Norton AntiVirus 3-User Pack, but this came back as valid Confused. Not complaining, but this breaks the pattern you mentioned.

But 12-41421 is a Frys rebate and this came back valid on 1/31. Anyone else have any data points for valid frys rebates?

i don't think its a frys' issue as I did not have any frys rebates invalid, but got the OD rebates invalid.

This is all very confusing. If Symantec is claiming they have no idea what's going then maybe it is Parago doing this. Its very strange that some are getting valid notifications after receiving several invalid notifications on different rebates.

No issues so far with paragon, except I had a couple problems with the smith micro software that was labeled "one rebate per customer". This used to mean one per customer per promotion. Now they tried to get shady and say that it meant one product rebate per person period for life. Nowhere on the rebate form does this say that.

If parago/Norton screw me them I'm doing a charge back to Fry's and new egg for their fraudulant business practices.
Smith Micro told me that too (one rebate per product version per lifetime). Then I bought Anime Studio Debut 9 (brand new product) for the first time, submitted the rebate, and it was invalid (missing UPC). So it seems like multiple manufacturers are blacklisting people who do lots of rebates through Parago.

It has nothing to do specifically with Fry's. I have invalid Symantec rebates from Fry's and from Newegg.

The $100 Sony rebate showed up and is valid.

Now I'm getting concerned about the Kaspersky rebates. Velocity Fulfillment has always been slow as hell, but they have always paid out their rebates. Same thing; if they screw me, charge back time to Discover to Frys.

Yea I think the sony ones are still ok. So far I think it is only for Norton (and McAfee), The ones getting SmithMicro seem to be account specific.

then it has to be because people are submitting excessive rebates in an certain amount of time.

What should we do now? Contact to Frys, or dispute transaction with credit card company?

File a complaint online to the State Attorney Generals Office in their state, CA, for false advertising and rejection of your rebate. You'll get it. Form takes 5 minutes.

File here
http://oag.ca.gov/contact/consume...or-company

Do NOT file with BBB. SAG will not get involved if you do.

AVOID ALL NORTON REBATES UNTIL FURTHER ISSUES OF ERRORS REJECTION DUE TO AUDIT ARE RESOLVED
