Symantec Rebates - "Your rebate request did not pass our audit process"

ryanm2890 30 January 24, 2013 at 03:46 AM
Hello all,

I recently received invalid notifications on 3 Symantec rebates (more should be coming) all giving the reason "Your rebate request did not pass our audit process". I'm assuming this is 1 product per year thing that McAfee does (or did?) but it says this nowhere in any of the fine print on any of these Symantec rebates. I've contacted parago about this and I waiting for a response but I thought I would start this thread cause I'm sure other people will be in this same boat. If anyone else has any experience with this "invalid reason" or is in this same boat with Symantec, post you experience.

The offers I'm officially having this problem with are:
13-43642
12-41409
13-43641

P.S. first post so go easy on me

then it has to be because people are submitting excessive rebates in an certain amount of time.
where does it limit to the number of rebates you can submit in a certain amount of time?

Found this forum/post by seeing all the Negatives on the latest Frys Norton IS/triple bundle and was puzzled by all that. Glad I saw it in time and did not order the bundle this time.

My $.02 on this is that I agree Symantec is probably going the ways of McAfee rebates to cut down on number of rebates you do per month or year. Seems their rebate turn around time is so good that they get "repeat" customers like myself and many others. Oh well, was good while it lasted... Just hope my Frys 1st bundle for 2013 does not get rejected, just mailed it off last week, not in their system yet... Been doing rebates for years and had no major issues. I keep copies of everything and track them well.

My "theory" on why this is happening is someone mentioned an "audit" and since their rebate turn around is so good, attract repeat buyers, that probably NEVER or has very low percentage of people "forgetting" to submit rebates, so their payout % is probably very high and their "profits" would be low. Just makes business sense on their end if they have low margins to cover all the cost/overhead of those Visa rebate cards etc...

So far all my Newegg and Frys rebate for Symantec w/ promotions in Dec 2012 have been valid.

Will put up a fight for this last rebate and wait and see ...

So far all my norton's have been good. It might have to do with me being in PA and the lawsuit though. What's scarey are the Nero rebates. Your lucky if after a month they even confirm receiving your rebate.

None of mine were invalidated so far with Kaspersky or Symantec. But I think they are going to start cracking down since we are probably not making them any money. However, I don't see how they can deny our rebates legally without proving we are violating their terms, but the terms are so vague that they may be able to interpret them however they want.

File a complaint online to the State Attorney Generals Office in their state, CA, for false advertising and rejection of your rebate. You'll get it. Form takes 5 minutes.

File here
http://oag.ca.gov/contact/consume...or-company

Do NOT file with BBB. SAG will not get involved if you do.
I assume you're saying to file the AG complaint against Symantec? (they're in California)

Which do you think is better, filing it against Symantec or against Parago?

Symantec, if in fact the rebate was denied.
Wait til the audit completes.

The way I see it, Parago/Symantec has most likely stopped the audit to invalidate Norton rebates. I would like to know if anyone has got their Norton rebates invalidated since 1/31. If not, it is probably just during late Jan that people ran into trouble with their rebates.

But of course, people should wait and see before purchasing more Symantec products.

This is total misinformation. Please don't spread such gut-feeling conclusions when you have no data rely on. We need more data points.

I jumped in it again. Since they rejected my first 4 rebates this year 2013, and then approval last 3 rebates, let's see what will happen.

Good luck. bounceReport it your result here. Wait, probably at least 3 weeks later.

That's a lot of money down the drain if they reject you ($75).

But more power to you. LMAO

Your 4 rejections, were they also Symantec or other Parago rebates?

4 Rejections are all Symantec rebates. I'm gonna request a charge back if Symantec reject me one more time. Just a little bit more fighting, nothing to lose.
