I have received two different outcomes (so far) for the Norton that was hit with Audit. One of which the status "magically" changed to valid. Didn't receive that one yet. The other I got today, but it was under a completely new tracking number. When I checked the status of this new number in Parago, it says it was Norton Appeasement Program/Customer Care. Both I called Frys on...guess they can resolve it different ways. Gotta give Frys credit for this one.
FYI - Symantec dialog. Be kind folks, it appears they may try and work through this "error" and place in new limits. I at least have an active dialog.
Dear Mrs. rebateblahblah
Thank you for your response
At this time, Symantec limits the total annual number of rebates to 20 rebates or $1000 per household.
Symantec Global Brand Protection
If there is just a yearly limit, then why did everyone get their first rejections at the start of the new year, and not the end of last year? Also, why did some people have later rebates go through fine for other norton products? Unless it is 20 rebates per product....
I am making progress with my rebates from Symantec.
Thank you for your response. Since rebates are mainly for personal use, the offer is not available to resellers, or groups. In order for us to understand the reason behind the multiple redemptions, can you please let us know if the software purchase if for personal use, or other.
Wow! They have now started tracking the subscriptions to see if you ever truly use their products.
I definitely do not resell them, nor even give them away. I buy once in a while and leave it on the shelf. Standard in this economy- buy when it is on sale before you need it.
It's really chicken for Symantec to now stealthily require registering the product. This is so out of character for Symantec. Did they hire a prison warden recently or something? There has got to be a back story to this.
I have not been ensnared in Symantec's new vague crackdown. But this is a major negative in my book the next time I consider buying another product from them. In fact, I was about to buy last week when a poster mentioned this thread. Long story short, I did not buy. I wonder if Symantec has considered the collateral damage from this.
As others said, simply define excessive. Forget the crap fuzzy logic 1980's AI thing they have. Probably using the same system as TMobile, lol
Clarification from Fry's -- they're paying the rebates themselves instead of Symantec
Thank you for contacting Frys.com.
Your rebates are being honored by Fry's Electronics, since they were denied by the rebate center even though all terms and conditions were met. Your rebate checks will be coming from the Fry's Electronics Home Office in San Jose, CA. You should be receiving these checks by the end of the month, at the latest.
Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.
You can't do a charge back because of one simple fact: Newegg, Fry's or whoever delivered the product as agreed. Everyting else is between you and the manufacturer.
If newegg advertises the product as FAR then they have to ensure the manufacturer is honors the rebate otherwise it is fraudulent advertising on their part. A chargeback is valid if you don't get the price newegg advertises.
I recently got a reply back from Frys about 2 weeks after I emailed my documents in. The reply said my rebates were under final review and processing and to wait 2-4 weeks for checks. Will keep you guys posted and best of luck
