Symantec Rebates - "Your rebate request did not pass our audit process"

ryanm2890 30 January 24, 2013 at 03:46 AM
Hello all,

I recently received invalid notifications on 3 Symantec rebates (more should be coming) all giving the reason "Your rebate request did not pass our audit process". I'm assuming this is 1 product per year thing that McAfee does (or did?) but it says this nowhere in any of the fine print on any of these Symantec rebates. I've contacted parago about this and I waiting for a response but I thought I would start this thread cause I'm sure other people will be in this same boat. If anyone else has any experience with this "invalid reason" or is in this same boat with Symantec, post you experience.

The offers I'm officially having this problem with are:
13-43642
12-41409
13-43641

P.S. first post so go easy on me

Other than Symantec, who are the other manufacturers who are denying rebates? Hopefully you can share so we can all be aware of potential issues.
Webroot and Panda rebates are now rejecting rebates for the same reason. Parago + Webroot even sent out warning letters. It's just a matter of time before AVG rebates get rejected too...

Rebate redemption rates have significantly increased in the past years, hence the clamping down and enforcement of rebate terms.

A poster in a different thread stated that even after following the T&Cs, they still got the rejection letter. What's surprising is Panda getting on the rejection bandwagon, even though their T&Cs don't state the "one product per household per year" rule (Webroot does).

I hear you. I saw those threads and do not understand how it can be legal for them to suddenly reject rebates that satisfy all criteria on the forms.

Well, I've always had a love/hate relationship with rebates. Love them when you can get a slick deal, but hate them when you have to go thru obscene terms and/or deal with the rejections.

They try to get you to bite on subscription programs (no thanks!), they keep up the pressure to buy something where it says "FREE" in a 30 pt font, but "one per person/household" in 6 pt font and the store you buy it at may not back you up (NewEgg and Fry's are exceptions).

I say vote with your dollars and reject these software manufacturers that hand out bogus rejections! vomit
