The problem isn't his graphics setup. Their setup is likely crossfire (have an HP dv6-6135dx myself) with a dedicated that packs a pretty decent graphics processing setup. The problem is the weak processor architecture even at a high 2.8Ghz. It doesn't handle the more number crunching games well like Diablo, Starcraft, Civ, etc. while it can still play games like Batman Arkham City at decent middle of the road settings. I don't use it at home for games mostly either, its more of a stuck at the airport kind of rig personally.

I know, but I'm telling you that my ASUS K53TA with an A6-3400 @ stock with a Radeon 6720g (on board + 6550 w/ 1GB VRAM) can run the game without any problems. Obviously it's not as good as my desktop, but what did you expect?

My laptop doesn't have the discreet graphics like yours, it's all APU. Now I know why it was so cheap.

It actually does play some games fairly well. Fallout Lost Vegas runs pretty smooth. Diablo 3 is playable on low settings but doesn't look too horrible. But Civ just kills it.

I thought about selling it and getting a halfway decent gaming laptop, but why drop another $500 ( figure I could sell this one for $500) just to play Civ in the living room? My desktop crushes it in every way except for me sitting on the couch within sight of the SO.

Picked up G&K from GreenManGaming for $3.15 last deal that came around new year's. Trying to pick up Civ 5 so I can finally use it. For $20, this deal may be worth it, but I'll be loaded with PC games for the next 6 months.
