UPDATE: Amazon matched price, then TigerDirect matched free shipping. Take your pick.

Well-reviewed Andrew Jones designed Pioneer home theater speakers for great price at TigerDirect.

I have seen several threads about a couple of the speakers but I decided to put them together in one thread. These prices are as good as I have seen in current searches and better than even the previous models that are still out there. They may not be as good as the deals in the fall when they cleared out the old models though. It's just the best I see right now by far. For those not familiar, I'd say these are a very high end budget line if that makes sense. Way better than the tiny speakers you usually see in packaged home theater systems but not pro speakers.

TigerDirect links:

Bookshelf pair SP-BS22-LR [tigerdirect.com] $90
Center SP-C22 [tigerdirect.com] $70
Subwoofer SW-8MK2 [tigerdirect.com] $90
Floorstanding (tall) SP-FS52 [tigerdirect.com] $100
I had to login and go to checkout to see the prices. My checkout image: http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/5629/tigerdirect2.png

Subwoofer SW-8MK2 - http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-SW-...372&sr=1-2
Center SP-C22 - http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-SP-...372&sr=1-3
Floorstanding (tall) SP-FS52 - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...slickdeals

Best Buy has the bookshelves at $40 higher, the center at $30 higher, the subwoofer at $70 higher, and the floors at $25 higher!

By the way, newegg had some good deals on Pioneer home theater speakers lately but they no longer carry them (previous models discontinued and new models not carried).

You can still see all the old models along with the new at Pioneer's site - http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Home/Speakers/Home+Theater+Speakers

It was a little unclear though, lol

you really want to start another argument huh..

What about how Best Buy received their shipment? Or how they take care of their packages? Have you seen some of the pictures people posted when they had TV sitting in the sideways position?

Also the costs is possibly the same for him whether he gets charged tax on Amazon or not. BB tax ~7% = $95 for open box vs $100 new on Amazon. Reward zone points is worthless unless you already spend hundreds of dollars at Best Buy already for their overpriced products.
I ended up PMing with BB with the Amazon price. Either way, I'd have had to pay tax, so I took this route. I'll be returning the Open Box this weekend. Thanks again!

This reviews the older model vs new...Not exactly scientific, but a layman's take.

Now buy on Amazon for same price and free shipping as of a couple hours after I posted this. See wiki.

ANOTHER REVIEW [hometheatershack.com]
Cool, good find. No mention of the smaller center speaker specifically. No big deal for most probably.

I currently have this as my setup, would it make a huge difference in sound to upgrade: two towers, center channel and a pair of the bookshelves? I am not an audiophile by any means, and I think it sounds "ok" right now. Am I going to be impressed at spending 360 bucks?

The Pioneer speakers would be a huge upgrade over those.

For a lot less money you could get a complete 5 speaker set of R series Polk and the SW8 from newegg. I would take that over the Pioneer set any day, plus have $100 still in my pocket.Cool

Yes, we know you like and shill Polk. That's your opinion. The R150 5 1/4" speaker doesn't even have as good a frequency response as the BS-22.

Reviews such as these from reputable sources also dispute your claims.

Seem these are gr8 bang for the buck...
So safe to assume I can use the bookshelf SP-BS22-LR as my rear surround in a 5.1 setup with my JBL 830 fronts & hear magic?

And we all know specs on paper are all that matters. OMG

Let's see, R150-'s on sale $40.Big Grin Pioneer BS-22's on sale $90Roll Eyes (Sarcastic), which is over DOUBLE the price.

R150> Frequency Response: 60Hz - 24kHz / 100w
BS-22> Frequency Response: 55Hz - 20kHz / 80w

R150> Nominal Impedance 8 ohms, Sensitivity 89dB Smilie
BS-22> Nominal impedance 6 ohms, Sensitivity: 85 dB Frown

Hmm, on paper it looks like the ONLY advantage the BS-22 has on the R150 is it goes slightly lower in range, but the R150 goes slightly higher in range. Not hard to see why I recommend the R150's over the BS-22 all-day everyday. Wink

The BS-22's would make good surrounds. Keep in mind they are rated 6 ohms and not very efficient. PlusI believe those JBL's are 8 ohms. You can mix and match impedance on most receivers, but I would rather keep all speakers the same impedance.

I was thinking about picking this set http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001UHDMXE up for my soon-to-be home theater in the house I'm purchasing, but since I'm a Slickdealer at heart I was wondering if I got these 2 floor standing, 2 bookshelf, the center, and sub if they would compare at all. $1316 vs $450 does sound nice but I'm assuming there's a major reason for the price difference. I am going to be powering it with a Onkyo SR-806.

I had NHT floor standing mains and a NHT center which I sold before moving just to see where I was coming from...
