UPDATE: Amazon matched price, then TigerDirect matched free shipping. Take your pick.

Well-reviewed Andrew Jones designed Pioneer home theater speakers for great price at TigerDirect.

I have seen several threads about a couple of the speakers but I decided to put them together in one thread. These prices are as good as I have seen in current searches and better than even the previous models that are still out there. They may not be as good as the deals in the fall when they cleared out the old models though. It's just the best I see right now by far. For those not familiar, I'd say these are a very high end budget line if that makes sense. Way better than the tiny speakers you usually see in packaged home theater systems but not pro speakers.

TigerDirect links:

Bookshelf pair SP-BS22-LR [tigerdirect.com] $90
Center SP-C22 [tigerdirect.com] $70
Subwoofer SW-8MK2 [tigerdirect.com] $90
Floorstanding (tall) SP-FS52 [tigerdirect.com] $100
I had to login and go to checkout to see the prices. My checkout image: http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/5629/tigerdirect2.png

Subwoofer SW-8MK2 - http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-SW-...372&sr=1-2
Center SP-C22 - http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-SP-...372&sr=1-3
Floorstanding (tall) SP-FS52 - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...slickdeals

Best Buy has the bookshelves at $40 higher, the center at $30 higher, the subwoofer at $70 higher, and the floors at $25 higher!

By the way, newegg had some good deals on Pioneer home theater speakers lately but they no longer carry them (previous models discontinued and new models not carried).

You can still see all the old models along with the new at Pioneer's site - http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Home/Speakers/Home+Theater+Speakers
Old model......New model
SP-BS21-LR...SP-BS22-LR

I'm just giving you the manufacturers specs. Take that up with Polk. I've more than proven my case that the R150's are good speakers, with the advantage over the BS-22's on everything but low end, on paper at least. Perhaps you should listen to the speakers before being so critical of them. It's very foolish to belittle a speaker that is superior on paper, all the while being ignorant on what they actually sound like. EEK!
You should take your own advice. You clearly stated you don't own the BS-22s, and based on your preference of muddy midbass, you won't like them anyway.

Great. You should definitely find a good deal on the R150's and open a thread on them.
Thank you! If you love the Polks that much, open a Polk deal thread and not troll the Pioneer deals every time there is one. It shows an agenda.

Ok, now can we talk Ford vs. Chevy?!
Haha, I can't believe it. That's exactly what I was going to post.

I'm currently using a pair of Sony SS-MF600H [cnetcontent.com] tower speakers. These things are great, and powerful at loud volumes. nod Two 8" woofers, a 3" mid range, and a 1" tweeter.

Anyone know if I purchase a pair of SP-BS22-LRs for fronts with the sub if they'd be comparable to my Sony towers? How about the SP-FS52-LR compared to the Sonys?

Years ago I purchased the matching center and rears for these towers. But years later after actually hooking up the center channel I found that it sucked. Way too "boxy" sounding. Many reviews stated the same. I've been living with 2 channel audio for years now.

But my two channel audio kills my brother's sound bar in sound quality. His bar just sounds disconnected & distant. It's like there's no focus of the sound waves. Not bright or full spectrum at all.

I'm thinking of getting the SP-C22 center and SP-BS22-LR for rears and using my Sony fronts. I'm undecided on a sub woofer. I don't think I want the limited 8" SW-8 after reading reviews. But maybe something in the 10" range.

Any thoughts?

Can't answer your Sony comparisons, sorry. For sub, I picked up a BIC F12 12" sub for $187 on Amazon and it's thunderous. Stuff rattles in other rooms if the volume is up. I love it. Smilie

I brought the same sub but I'm gonna have to give it to my Pop. He has the house for it, not me... lol. That sub is massive and due to me living in a townhome, I have to respect thy neighbor. I have to turn this sub down so low that the amp doesn't even sense the signal to turn on. But the few times I used have turned it up, yes it is thunderous! EEK!

Would the Bookshelf 22s be able to handle to wattage from Denon 3312 as 7.2 surround speakers? The receiver is listed as 100W per channel and speakers are only rated 80W. Will that combo work?

Anyone have a suggestion on a receiver to go with this set? I would have no idea what to look for, and would hope to not spend a ton of cash for it...

I've been pretty happy with my Onkyo TX-SR600 I purchased about 10 years ago. I'm probably due for an upgrade some time soon. drool
I have no doubt my next purchase will be one of the latest Onkyo models. IMO it's a really great bang for your buck.
