I have this set and really like both tools. The impact has more than enough power to drill a 4 inch lag screw into hardwood.

I didn't see anything about warranty. It's usually mentioned after the product content under the picture.

When do you need the impact driver / what do you use it for? I use the drill for all my screwing etc :-)

Porter Cable have brought out a 20v range, but I think they are more targeted at a building site.

I have the refurbished PCL418C-2 li-ion set (Circular saw, Reciprocating saw light , drill) and it is a great set. I knocked a closet and built an ensuite using these tools. It really put them through their paces. I expected them to break before the project was over, but they are going strong(apart from the light). The battery life is amazing (with the lx and ex batteries). The only time I noticed an issue was when using the drill with a wire brush attachment cleaning an old firegrate, the motor was starting to get very hot after running non stop for 20+ minutes.

new LX batteries are about $64, to it is worth it for the batteries alone (assuming that they are new).

I think I will get this deal (for the upgraded drill, and the batteries)

Just bought it, do you ever buy the squaretrade warranty for things like this,
I am new to the US, so I am not sure if the warranties they offer are worth it?

You will love the impact. It just provides a lot more umph when driving in a screw. One task I find it specifically handy for is toenailing. You don't have to provide hardly any pressure and the thing will drive a screw completely through the stud if you don't pay attention. I have the same drill as you do, the old style, but got the impact with it at the same time.

I just tried to get a quote from ST using ebay buyer link but they said it's no covered

I was able to 'add to cart' a square trade warranty along with the drill... didn't go further than that though.

I was hoping to use a coupon if buying direct from ST but I guess 2 years add on from product page is not too bad.

Yeah, maybe call? I don't think it's a category I can browse to normally though, so maybe just take what yo can get if you want the extended warranty.

It's alright. Apparently "Home & Garden" is the category for this on the receipt. I'll be able to flip some old tools to cover the "extra cost". It's pretty much a free, substantial upgrade for me.
