This is a great deal. I have both these, as well as nearly every other 18v porter cable tool out there. I love my tools. The LX battery is fine in the drill and impart driver. I put over 100 3" 1/4 strong drive lag bolts into a 3 ply LVL, and both the screw gun and impart driver handled the task fine. The only downside is using the lithuium LX batteries in the circular saw or sawzall will frequently send the battery into protection, where the tool shuts off till you pull the trigger again. Just use a NiCad for all the high current drain applications, and no worries. The dual chemistry charger is great as well. Sometimes I wont seat a nicad properly, and it will flash bad battery, but reseating it again will fix it up. I have 4 refurb tools and the rest were bought new. I didnt have a single scratch on the refurbs I bought. You couldn't tell the difference between the new and refurb. At this price, its worth it just for the batteries.

Bought this set a few months ago from Lowes when it was on sale for $39 (pricing mistake maybe). They are excellent and plenty of power. The old Ryobi driver had a wobbly chuck and the battery didn't last.

Read the reviews on Amazon and you will see why they are refurbished. Apparently they have battery issues.

Much better than the LX, and the same if not better than the EX, however, probably double the weight. Also, the LX did not like the cold. I was out in 15 degree weather fixing my brothers derailed serpentine dbelt on his car, and the newly charged lithium battery kept shutting off every few seconds after the first ten minutes of operation. Luckily I had brought a nicad with me, which worked fine in the cold.

For what its worth, Id rather buy many cheaper nicads than fewer expensive lithiums.
