It looks like Home Depot got a new shipment in of Defiant LED Flashlight with a slightly different/larger reflector design. They haven't yet been posted to the Home Depot website. Might be a good opportunity for those who missed the previous Defiant 500 deal.

Specs: 493 Lumens, Cree XM-L LED, 5-hr runtime
Price: $22.97
SKU: 639226

Use inventory checker [comcast.net] to see if it's available in your area, but it looks like most stores got batches of 35 flashlights each.

*EDIT* = Looks like it's already being discussed on the BudgetLight forum [budgetlightforum.com].
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Many people in the budget flashlight forum are saying that these flashlights are marked for sale sometime in February and they are stashed in a random place in storage. Several people have said stores couldn't even find where they were located. One way to tell if the store has them out for sale is to see if the inventory level is less than intervals of 35, which I believe is the number of flashlights in one display case/box.

Photos of light output in this post (#148).

If you have a Costco near by and want a low (300)-lumen mode with the 500 lumen light, Feit Electric 2-pack for $25 limited time.

Checked out that forum link. There are some hard core flashlight people out there, gotta love it.

Thanks OP, sounds like a nice deal. Sounds like they are preparing for a sale on these beginning Feb 2nd or 3rd.

Nice, I wonder what % off the sale will be on these. Is it worth waiting for?

Stopped by my local HD but couldn't find it. Stupid me didn't write down the right sku either so they couldn't locate it. One of the dudes hanging out with the guy helping me started pestering me about how Defiants are blah and how I should get a Maglite yada yada yada. Pretty annoying. This time I'm calling the store to have them set it aside, then I'll go pick it up (assuming they really do have it - inventory checker shows 35)

lol, i didn't even realize this was a newer version of the 500.

I picked up 3 of these at my local Home Depot store today. They were not on the floor yet, but someone from the tool department was nice enough to track them down in receiving. For anyone whose Home Depot employees are having trouble finding them "in the back", but the inventory checker shows stock, tell the associate they might be packed in a "Brinkman" box. He said that made it difficult to find because he was initially looking for a "Defiant" branded box.

As for for the light itself... Seems nice and solid. It has a tighter spot than the Defiant 500 lumen tactical light, so I suspect the beam will throw quite far. It also seems a hair heavy (1lb. 10oz with included C cells installed) and might be a little awkward because of the large reflector. I'm looking forward to trying it out after dark this evening. One complaint I have thus far is that it has no lanyard/tether on the tail cap like the Defiant 500 does. Seems like great light for the money.

Edit: I just tried this outside now that it is dark. Definitely has a much farther throw (roughly 2x) than my Defiant 500. I was impressed by the 500 when I received it for Christmas, but this new model is equally impressive for the price.

Just stopped by the Bandera/1604 San Antonio location - they have them - they had to go and dig around for them but they have them -- it did take forever for them to locate the box they were in so go when its slow time for them -- but Holy Cow - brighter then crap -- I shot the beam completely across the parking and across the freeway and was hitting street sign reflectors 1/2 mile away at least... heavy though - about 2 lbs it seems...

My concern is that they will go on sale - and not have any in stock .. last night they had 35 when i checked - today they have 27 ... so allot of SD'rs and FW folks already snatching them up .. i would rather have them at full price then none at 20% off ... LOL

Yeah, looks like another FW/SDer picked up 3 more from a local store that had 10. He must have been thinking "one for me and two for fleabay!" LOL
