Crazy deal, but I don't think we'll see too many of these since stock appears to be depleting. We'll keep seeing 6D drops I expect, since it really doesn't offer THAT much more than the 5D2.

The 5D2 is built like a tank, and while the outer AF points are useless, the center point is very good. Do a search on Flickr and see how many fantastic images were taken with this camera. The 6D while newer is prosumer, the 5D2 is a pro body built like a tank. I don't believe the sensor differences are that great between 5D2, 5D3 and 6D. Canon obviously wants us to believe there are massive improvements, but I think for many it would be difficult to see the differences.

At this price, it's a DEAL for a FF SLR!

What do you mean by "regular" camera? Cheaper SLR? The big deal about the 5D2, 5D3, 6D are that they use a "full frame" sensor. Think of the sensor as being the same size roughly as 35mm film. Cheaper DSLRs use a smaller sensor so the image always appears "cropped", hence the term crop-sensor. If the image was being projected onto a 35mm sensor, but you used a 23mm sensor, the outer areas of the image would be lost. That's effectively what you're getting with most DSLRs. A 50mm lens would give you a 50mm field of view on a 35mm camera (or full frame) but since the outer parts are "cropped" due to the smaller sensor, it's more like using a 75mm lens.

In short, bigger sensor = bigger image, less noise at higher ISOs, overall better output.

To be fair, Canon's sensor tech is a bit outdated, but at this price it's hard to go wrong.

Agreed, the 6D is relatively pointless IMO. If you own lots of good Canon glass, you'll like get the 5D3. If you don't, you'll either save up for the 5D3 or consider another brand. The 6D is severely lacking features at its price-point ... single memory card slot, better AF than 5D2 but still only 11 points with single cross point (the single cross point is the same as the 5D2), no 100% viewfinder etc.

It's either lowered a bit more or no longer available for sale because it's been discontinued.

This deal. I also have a rewards back with the credit card and NO TAX where I am at so BAM~ got it as christmas gift on my own. I am glad that I pushed the button BUY NOW at that time. Because there have not been a 5D mark iii deal yet........

Called and cancelled the kit with lens.. Watch if it shows available and you can order one
